Hi we're looking to buy a new TV but we would also like to move the telly to a different place in the room. It is currently stuck where it is cause thats where the aerial comes out of the wall. Are new tellys capable of being wireless? Not sure what it is I'm looking for. Grateful for any assistance.

I've never heard of a wireless TV. Maybe they do exist.
It should be easy enough to extend the aerial cable (or satellite cable if that is what you have). You can run it around the skirting or under the edge of the carpet etc. Or you could reroute it via an outside wall depending on your room and house configuration.
That has to be easier, simpler and cheaper than trying to get a wireless signal set up, even if that is possible.
Is there a power point available where you wish to place the new TV?
PS: When we bought our current house three years ago, the TV and Satellite aerials were in one corner of the living room. I booked a free Sky home move and they installed new satellite cabling outside the house entering via the centre of the wall behind where we wanted to place our TV. It was very easy and straightforward.
I didn't bother moving the aerial cable as we never use it. We watch Freesat and Sky satellite only. In an emergency (eg all satellite channels fail) I can run a temporary cable inside the room for terrestrial TV but I haven't had to do that yet.0 -

You're on the right site. You're also on the wrong thread.
Please don't be so disrespectful - start your OWN thread.0 -

1. Use thin WF65-1 coaxial cable. It's more flexible than standard cable but it's still double-screened and fine for short distances.
2. Plug a Freeview receiver into the aerial socket and connect a wireless videosender into it to transmit the selected channel across the room to the TV. Note that you'll be using the Freeview remote to change channel. (But note that HD videosenders aren't cheap.)0 -
This question was asked a few months back. The consensus was there is no way to make a wireless link from a loft aerial to a TV0

Thanks All. I am going to investigate extending the aerial cable across to the other side of the room though the Mrs will want it to be invisible and I will have to navigate either a fireplace or a door.
We only have BT YouView box, is the WF65-1 coaxial cable still the right stuff for the job? I see it is quite inexpensive on the Amazon.
Thanks.0 -
I like the idea of a roaming TV, except that I have enough trouble finding the remote control some days...let alone a wandering telly.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Have you considered Freesat TV? You would need a dish on an outside wall, cabling and a Freeview Receiver/recorder. That would cost from about £100 upwards but you would have no ongoing monthly fees.
TVs with built in Freesat are widely available if you don't want a recording facility, although I would urge you to get a recorder for time shifting etc.
You could have the satellite cables run outside the house, entering just behind where you want the TV placed.
I'm not sure how the channel line up on Freesat compares to BT so you would need to check that out.0 -
As you are buying a new TV and rearranging your room, perhaps now is the time to reconsider the entire TV set up.

Video sender unit? Is that an option?0
