for a home network, WEP is fine! The average user who sees a secure network will leave it alone. If you disabled SSID so people cant see your network while scanning, ,that would be even more secure
That can be done in the control panel too
Disabling the SSID will make no difference and its not always people trying to break into corporate networks. People (naming no names) will use other peoples connections if theirs go down and if you are on a low bandwidth package it can cost you.
Also if people want to do anythin malicious/dodgy (hacking ,credit card fraud, kiddy !!!!!!) without it being traced back they will use any open or easily cracked (WEP) networks. Then it gets traced back to whoevers network they used.0
