Unless the other person has hacked your WEP indeed it is secure so dont worry too much!
WEP should do you fine. Only if you stored information about highly illegal activity would i consider WPA

WPA will work with any ISP - you're just setting up your own little network at home. So as the others said, as long as your hardware supports it then it will work. Apparently it can use WPA2 - which is more secure than WPA (which can also be cracked).

OH sorted his brother's home hub on the weekend. There is no info with the damn thing about swapping to WPA, but a quick Google search found what to do

Hubby set up our Orange Wireless hub, we had to use WEP as it doesn't support WPA for Macs, but everythings secure.0

Well thats totally different to the op's problem and I don't want to scare you but WEP can be very easily cracked by people with little experience with easy to get software from the internet.0

Current record is 20 seconds to crack WEP.0

Internet Service Provider, in your case it's BT. Basically whoever you pay for your internet connection. Now I scared..... will have to try to do WPA thing...... somehow.... what is ISP as someone mentioned earlier?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

MKWife, dont be scared.
People will only be hacking WEP when its used to secure commercial places.
for a home network, WEP is fine! The average user who sees a secure network will leave it alone. If you disabled SSID so people cant see your network while scanning, ,that would be even more secure
That can be done in the control panel too [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
