Car hire - one way rental fees

Hi,

Does anyone know of any car hire companies in the UK that don't charge for one-way rentals? I'm looking at renting a car to drive us down from Manchester to Gatwick for our holiday, then again two weeks later, but they all seem to charge a one-way rental fee of roughly £50.

Thanks.

Have you tried Europcar? Last year we hired a car one-way to get us from Bristol to Heathrow, then same back from Heathrow 3 weeks later. Roughly £50 each way + petrol, had it for just under 24 hours. Easier for us as we live some way from Bristol centre and coach/train options cause more hassle.

Edited to add- Think it was under special offers and called "Airport Connect" - not sure if they still do this, and the other big companies may do something similar.

They do still offer this but not available from 18th July to end of August. There is also a hefty £1,000 excess for damage or theft of the car, which can be reduced to £250 for a fee of £13ish.
