Me too, just that I had no money then:(

Same here - it was all going on the mortgage ;)
  • I think the problem is people are comparing accounts which have a lump sum sat in it with regular savings accounts.

I can remember the days of 6% current accounts and 10% regular savers, but neither Santander nor TSB were around back then.
...well the TSB claim to have been founded in 1810, so I am guessing you must be quite some age! I accept, though, that you could pick a range of dates for when the loose association of Trustee Savings Banks became a single entity but even the public share flotation was before the last time that we had relatively high interest rates.

The TSB group was absorbed by Lloyds group in 1995, resulting in the disappearance of the TSB brand completely. It was not divested again until 2013.

I haven't the foggiest what any of that is supposed to mean, but perhaps it was before my time.

Hi, I applied for a Nationwide Flex account last week, still have,nt had an activation code from them yet after they said I had been accepted. Anyone else waited a long time for them?

I got My card, Pin and code fairly quick. Took ages for the security card reader to arrive though.
I went into a local store and they gave one to me there. Which I thought was good service.

so when you get your code, go in branch and get the card reader or you may not be able to use online banking for some weeks.

    See:

    and

Not sure about the history of the 6% current account - I thought First Direct started it but not according to this article which mentions a Santander precursor.

If you have a card reader from another bank (Co-operative, NatWest or even an old one from Tesco ) you can use that with your Nationwide card.

Yes indeed, it was the A&L series of high interest current accounts to which I was referring above.

Thanks for that, I'll see what happens in the next few days, been a week since I applied.
