Does anyone have a working email contact in BT Openreach ?
I want to find out why they are replacing my local cabinet, with a non fibre one - when all the other cabinets in my area have been upgraded - it appears rather stupid to replace like with like
I have been waiting for a fibre connection for 2 years and have been told that it is down to financial constraints why they have missed our cabinet out (we live in the middle of a town, and ALL of the surrounding roads were upgraded over a year ago - leaving about 30 house without fibre !!

  • Forget about contacting them, they are not public facing.

As for replacing the cabinet, they don't replace cabinets with fibre cabinets, but instead they site an additional fibre cabinet nearby the existing one with a link cable going between them both.

In some cases the existing cabinet may also need replaced to accomodate the connections to a new fibre cabinet. This is what happened at my local cabinet so may be what is happenng to your cabinet.

I am not sure why you think only 30 houses can't get fibre. A cabinet will serve several hundred houses, not just 30.

Of course if there were only 30 premises served by a cabinet that could well be why they didn't consider it worth upgrading....

They have no obligation to explain their business decisions, and quite frankly I dont think they would

They replaced our "standard" cabinet late last year -at the time I assumed it was something to do with the exchange being upgraded to 21CN?
Earlier this year, they have then added a fibre cabinet about 20 feet away (BDUK funding)and cabled the two together -now waiting for the "accepting orders" status.
