My local cash converters has a iPhone 4 for £150. It looks in good condition. Should I buy it, or could there be faults etc?

Pawn shops like CC have some good stuff and a load of cruft, knock-offs, stolen gear, etc come through their doors. Risk with a phone is that someone will later report it stolen, it gets blocked, they claim the insurance money, you're hosed. Or it could have water damage, or any number of other faults.
Personally I'd spend that £150 on a *brand new* Motorola Moto G which is more powerful, guaranteed, excellent little phone for the price.0 -
We bought our own stolen mini tv from CC. Our son, without permission, allowed a 'friend' (turned out to be on drugs) borrow it and this article moved house.
Several months later, I saw a tv in the CC window and decided to buy, as we missed ours and, on examination, found it was ours. It was an unusual tv/radio/cassette player and had some small gloss paint marks, which matched our colour.
CC said they would let us have it 'free' if we could prove ownership, but as it was out of warranty we no longer had a record of the serial number.0 -

My son bought an iPhone 4s from them and it has been fine. I think the protection is better buying it through a business such as this than on somewhere like ebay or gum tree.0

Mrs B has just downgraded from Android to iPhone 4s
She bought one from an eBay dealer for £150 with a 12 month warranty
On reflection, she still prefers her Android!!!0 -
Another vote here for Motorola Moto G. Brand new, less than £130, works brilliantly and has fabulous battery life.0

If you buy an iPhone, just make sure that it isn't locked to an iCloud account or find my iPhone isn't enabled. If it is then you have an expensive paper weight.0

If you do decide to proceed, pay using a credit card if you can.
In the event of a problem that CC won't resolve, you will at least have "section 75" protection with the credit card company.0 -
£150 for an old iphone? style over substance! :rotfl:
