Phone wrongfully blocked - What can I do now?

Hi all,

I bought my Galaxy Note 2 LTE from a seller on gumtree, and long story short the deal went fine at that time when we met etc. last October.

Fast forward to now, almost 10 months later, and today the phone comes up as No Service. I have tried different sims and the phone does not register on any network. I have phoned up Three (my current network) and EE (The network the phone was on) to check and they said it has not been reported, although CheckMEND says "CheckMEND has a record that this item is CURRENTLY reported as LOST or STOLEN to at
least one mobile network operator"

Is there anyone else I can speak to, to get the phone unblocked? I have it in my possession and have proof that I bought it (texts etc, but the guy has since stopped using the number so I can't get hold of him.)

Thanks in advance!

It was probably insurance fraud. The seller sells the phone to you, then waits a while before reporting it lost/stolen to his network and claiming on his insurance policy.

Agreed, jayu619, you will need to take it up with the original seller.

If he has reported the phone as lost or stolen only he can get the IMEI blacklist removed (good luck with that, he will probably have to admit to fraud to do that, or claim to have found the handset and settle his claim with the insurance company).

There is also a slim chance that the IMEI has been blacklisted by mistake, again though, only the original owner (or someone with a proof of purchase from a recognised retailer) can take it up with the original network.
