What are you referring to? Are you sure you mean Acrobat and not Adobe Reader?

  • hmmm one would use logic and suggest that maybe the word "safe" is being used because currently its dangerous.. and if that was the case one would assume that it is being torrented or fileshared with viruses thus the OP wants to know when a safe version can be downloaded..

As reader is free from their official website (and safe) I would tend to think the OP is doing something they shudnt be :)

    But maybe he can explain...

Was kind of thinking the same thing, either it's Reader (free from Adobe) which I've never heard of being "unsafe". Or it's Acrobat which is also downloaded directly from Adobe's secure site once paid for. Anything else isn't officially Acrobat or Adobe Reader as far as I'm concerned and so it's the downloader's fault if they install something unintended.

  • Now there was a problem with the reader. People could hack on to your computer using the reader (somehow). There has been a fix for this! All verison that adobe have on there website should be ok!

Wasn't that ages ago, and it happened before version 8 was even released so version 8 was never considered unsafe. It would help if the OP was clearer with their question and specifically what software application they were talking about.

  • Although I can not advise you when it will be safe to download any programe I could say that this is a free down load from the Adobe website, them being a multi national and multi layered company it may be advisable to use there own website and not a third party website..

With regards to your question "when will it be safe" that's a matter for you to decide no one else and there could be an eliment of vicarious liability on any advisers part if they were to give you the wrong advice.

This is still all speculation as the OP did actually say "Acrobat 8" which is NOT free to download.

Indeed thats why I am suspicious. If the op has got confused between maybe the Vista version of Adobe Reader and Adobe 8 itself then fair enough! But until he answers this threads useless :p lol

But upgrading to 8 is the suggested fix. So again define "safe".

CS3 web premium is an excellent package that contains Acrobat 8, I suggest you get that - it comes with many other useful tools. You can get it for a decent price if you know where to look!
