Sorry but I don't buy your excuse. How many houses are in your constituency? Maybe the local party doens't have enough money to get leaflets and the like printed up? Perhaps you could send them a donation.... If you want to see your MP why not go to their open surgery in their constituency office (most MPs have these). Have you ever actually written to your MP to complain about something/ argue a point, or do you just sit their complaining on internet forums about how !!!!!! everything is and not actually doing anything about it?

no i dont just sit here and complain about stuff, i have written to my mp numerous times in the past few years. I have had numerous petitions handed to our local mp that i have organised about various local issues. I am very much pro-active about things like this. But if they cant be bothered to get off their backside every 4-5 years and actually do the leg work then they cant be surprised that people dont vote for them.

On Thursday we have got 3 elections to vote for round here, we have the general election, local council by election and county council elections.

I know labours general election manifesto, but havent got a clue what labour would do for me locally as i have not heard a dicky bird from them. They cant be bothered to put the leg work in as they havent got a chance of getting in its either lib dem or conservative. Labour round here are only interested in fighting battles they know there going to win. They cant win round here so cant be arsed. My opinion is that how will anyone ever vote for you, when they didnt even know what you will do for the local community.

As for sending donations, if I had the money I would, but i havent i need that for my bills.

You dont know me at all, so your assumptions are just wrong. I think we will have to agree to disagree on this as Im not getting involved with an argument over it.

That's exactly what's happened where I am divadee, but with Conservatives as the culprits rather than Labour.

I've actually had the most info from the Lib Dems!

We've got a mayoral election as well as the General on Thursday.

This weekend I spent a good 20 minutes
persuading my gran (who had a postal vote) that she had not voted for a Lib Dem Mayor as she was insistant that she had, as they hadn't put up a candidate, she had instead voted for an Independant candidate who was being backed by the Lib Dems.

    Hi Divadee,

I'm not trying to have a go at you in particular; I think there is a general malaise in our society whereby people will moan about politicians etc, whether it be their poliices or campaigning, yet are not prepared to do anything about it. Sorry if I offended.

Same here. The current MP here is a Conservative and evidently his only real rival is a Lib Dem candidate, but there is a Labour candidate............. apparently. Who he/she/it is I don't have the foggiest. The most important thing for me is that the person who is MP for the area is committed to doing the best for the constituency. Luckily, the current one seems to be pretty vocal and gets the job done. However, if the Monster Raving Loony Party was to come along I may well vote for them. :)

you can check the local electoral register or give them a call, and see if you are on there. did you fill in the form last year that was sent round?

Turn up at your local polling station and see if they let you vote. If they don't then either you aren't in the Electoral register or you've gone to the wrong polling station. You don't need a voting card in order to vote as long as you are on the register.
