Some times terriers get tired too.
He's slept for nearly an hour and a half, ate an early supper, fell asleep immediately.0 -
Not sure what to do about DS's birthday present.
As some of you will know, he's into film - both animation and live action - and he wants a video camera to replace the ancient and unreliable one that LNE got for him years ago when his workplace was selling off obsolete stock. I have said I'm happy to go along with this plan and asked him to research which would be the best one to get.
He's found one he really likes that is rather more expensive than I was thinking of. However, he's found a much more affordable source - there are several US ebay sellers selling manufacturer refurbished ones (in sealed boxes) much more cheaply than new ones.
My gut feeling is that for something that still costs quite a lot of money, I don't really want to get one off ebay. But it would cost an awful lot more to get one new from a retailer in this country.
Advice please NP.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Is it something a super sleuth shopper might be able to find cheaper elsewhere...have you exhausted uk search?
Edit: and how much cheaper are we talking? Percentage wise? If someone might had access to buying somethings discount how much discount would they need to make a comparable purchase?0 -

Or is it something that is cheaper in the US full stop (not just on ebay) - you never know, someone might be over there sometime soon... (though this still leaves the 'what if it goes wrong' question...)0 -

I'd be chary of buying something like that from US ebay, not just what Nikkster highlights. Will it work on UK electricity? Customs issues? Delivery charges? I have in the past bought the odd bit of jewellery (not expensive I hasten to add! Amber and one piece of turquoise) from US ebay, but I don't think I'd do that now. Oh and some antique parasols for renovation.Haven't got round to it yet!
But I'd be very wary of buying electronic stuff direct from US.
Do you feel able to share what it is? And is there a possibility of getting a refurb here?
Good luck!0 -

Will check the numbers and get back to you. Have got to help with revision for a test tomorrow. How do parents who aren't teachers cope with this kind of thing?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Yes, money on stuff coming in adds a hefty chunk.0 -
In addition to points above re electricity, duties etc... I'd add warranties. Not all warranties are equal. So you'd want there to be an international one if something goes wrong. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I'm well out of the loop on these things, but hasn't there been a convergence between stills cameras and movies cameras? Do you absolutely have to go down the movie camera route? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
