    They are green fields.

    That's always the rebuff ....

Nor from me it wasn't. You were the one who mentioned green fields.

...but the peace meal approach we have now with infrastructure an after thought is not working. I don't envisage a Ministry for house building but a more joined up approach would be of benefit. To be honest I don't think much will happen and the shortage of housing will continue.

In what way is the current approach 'piecemeal'? What kind of 'joined up approach' are you suggesting?

So what are you suggest if not green fields.

I don't see any plan where I am land becomes available and it is built on with no additional infrastructure or road improvements.

I'm suggesting that suitable land that will make best use of existing transport links and infrastructure should be identified and that land should be used and when the land is away from good transport links that should be put in place. I'll give you an example near me there is a large field next to station and on a bus route adjoining other properties this field has been given planning for a traveller site when it could accommodate ai least 100 properties.

what major changes do you want?

building more houses or grand strategic 20 year plan for the whole of the UK?

I do think a strategic plan for the whole of UK is needed and I don't think that and building houses are mutually exclusive.

what sort of strategic plan do you want?

one that predicts the future successful industries for the next 25 years?

one that plans the food supply of the country for the next 25 years?

one that predicts the future transport needs for the next 25 years?

is it the sort of plan where everything should stop now until the master plan is completed?

the way to Soviet style ruin.

No I just want a plant that identifies current needs and address those you seem to think private enterprise left to its own devices will solve everything I don't . Things can carry on as they are now until the plan is worked out which needed take that long. What I think will happen is the government will produce lots of hot air nothing will change and not enough property will be built.

2.65% of land is covered in golf courses in Surrey, this land is suitable for agriculture as well as in high demand for housing. They also use a lot of water and herbicide. There are other solutions as well. Even in London there are more bedrooms than people, go figure!

I would imagine more is giving over to equestrian use and the same could be said about that. Plenty of land about I'm just saying if we are going to build on green fields careful consideration should be given to which ones are used, as there will be a big outcry and it will have to be forced though.
