Sky debt collectors - not our problem!

Hello all, I'm posting this on behalf of my mum 1, because she isn't tech savvy and 2, I have previously worked for Sky.
My parents split in 2010, my dad moved out and divorce proceedings commenced. After a long time the marital home was sold and we moved out early 2014. We have no contact with my dad due to personal reasons but we asked him, through lawyers, to cancel the Sky account as it was in his name. This divorce has been drawn out over a long time due to his many attempts to delay the inevitable and this was yet another thing he tried to draw out (he claimed he needed the account number, which he does not as I know from my time working at Sky)
My mum cancelled the direct debit to sky from her bank account and we moved on. Unfortunately we have recently received an email (to my mum's address) from Sky's debt collectors saying we owe £37. The debt is in his name, not my mum's, but as my dad has delayed the divorce they are still technically married and 'linked' financially as far as credit is concerned. He has already damaged my mum's credit and she is worried that this will do further damage and thinks just paying it will make it go away. I, on the other hand, am not willing to have her pay for a debt that is in his name and is his fault (he was told to cancel the sky account repeatedly over the course of the divorce)
What do we do? Do I write to sky giving them his lawyer's details (the only details I have for him) and hope they will deal with it via the lawyer? He is famous for his delaying tactics and ignoring problems so will this evolve into something that could wreck my mum's credit even more? The debt collectors won't come after us surely even though the bank account and email address is my mum's because it isn't her account?
Help would be much appreciated, thank you.

He could be considered c/o his solicitors address, if the bill is in his name. This would cost him, so may get him to get his @r5e into gear.
I will post soon on how to file a notice of financial disassociation, as I need to get the car to a garage for 9.30 (I'm 3 hours ahead of the UK now). Just a tire change, so should be back in 45-60 minutes.

Back with you.
To file a notice of disassociation, see here, about half way down the page. Your mom will need to contact Experian, Call Credit and Equifax to have this information corrected.

This board isn't the best one to ask about financial matters just because the company demanding payment is an ISP. If it were a garage would you have posted in the motoring section?0
