When I spoke to the Jobcentre, they advised that their decision makers were simply told that I didn't attend a meeting, without any detail. This is why the decision makers (based in Glasgow, not my local Jobcentre), gave me the sanction. The same decision makers decided NOT to sanction me for not attending my signing appointment, as they had all the information.
I did indeed look for alternatives. However, it's an expensive trip (£100) and the only people who would normally help (my parents) are on vacation and were unable to do so - in fact, I've been unable to speak to them.
I'm talking about compensation for potential loss of earnings.
I live in a suburb served by a very poor bus service. It is not unusual for them not to come once or twice, although this is the only time I've experienced them not coming all day.0 -
You have no hope of getting compensation, especially for a job that you may not have even got! Have you spoken to the employer? They may be willing to rearrange if they really want you.0

If the bus service is so unreliable what would happen if you had a job and the bus didn't turn up?
Compensation for potential loss of income....what was the job?0 -
I'd be looking to relocate for this job (it's in Bournemouth, I'm not) anyway. But in general, the answer is that I'd have an income that could cover the cost of the odd taxi.

It depends.
Some Jobcentres only pay you after you have attended the interview (once you take in the proof).
My Jobcentre is like that - and like the OP, I live in Norfolk.0 -

So you did not manage to make your way to a job interview, and you want the state to compensate you for the wages that you would had earned had you both been a bit better prepared, and had got the job?
If you are not a troll, then you are an example of much that is wrong with our society.0 -
Actually, I want Maximus to pay - from their profits, not by passing the bill to the DWP. I want them to pay for not informing me that they'd had me sanctioned, as the Jobcentre informs me that they were required to do so.0

I'll ask again:You have no hope of getting compensation, especially for a job that you may not have even got! Have you spoken to the employer? They may be willing to rearrange if they really want you.0
