JSA Not Paid?

Hello,
I receive Income-based Job Seekers' Allowance. I sign on fortnightly, on a Wednesday. My benefit is therefore paid on Monday, but has always shown in my (Barclays) bank account by about 00:30 on the Saturday. This weekend, however, it has not.
I signed on as usual and nothing was out of the ordinary. I certainly wasn't made aware of any changes. Could it be that Barclays is no longer crediting accounts on Saturdays, and it'll all be fine on Monday morning? Or is it much more likely that the Jobcentre has screwed up?

it could be either,i suggest you keep checking the account uptil first thing monday and if its still not been paid tele them as soon after 8am as possible(supposably not as busy between 8-9)0

Yes. I have a suspicion that it's the Jobcentre, since if it was Barclays, others would likely be affected. I can find no evidence of this here, or on Twitter. I've checked again tonight and nothing, so I'll check again Monday morning. I'm supposed to be heading to Bournemouth at about 10am for a rather exciting job interview and without the money, I can't buy my job ticket. I shall be most upset.0

Still nothing this evening. I'll check again at 00:30 if I'm still up, or in the morning and then I guess it's off to bye Jobcentre.0

Hi, One thing i have noticed with my barclays account is since they changed parts of the online account, monies are paid in to my account at all times of the day.
Last week i had a up to date balance at around 11am from the branch, two hours later i went on line to check a payment, there was six transactions happened since the up to date balance from earlier.
Maybe this my be the reason why your payment wasnt there ?0 -
You aren't in the process of being changed from contributions-based JSA, to income-based JSA are you? (if you have been unemployed for 6 months, it changes over).0

It turns out that I had been sanctioned for four weeks and not told. This was done by my Work Programme sponsor, who should have informed me and did not.
I was sanctioned for missing a ~Work Programme appointment, which I missed because the buses weren't running. I kept in good contact with my Work Programme sponsor to updatee them and tried all day to get there. I missed a Jobcentre appointment that was due immediately before the Work Programme one and when I went in the next day to explain, they were absolutely fine.
So essentially I have been sanctioned by the Work Programme - thus missing a job interview - for something that the Jobcentre didn't think I should be sanctioned for. Unbelievable.
I have now received a hardship payment of 2/3 the amount I should have received, but it's now far too late for me to get to the south coast for my interview, so I'm very upset.
I've been told by the Jobcentre that the sanction should be overturned and that I'll hear in a few days and should then receive the rest of the money due today as well as receiving my payment on time in a fortnight. However, this doesn't help me. I have potentially missed a job opportunity - a very good one - because of what's happened. Am I entitled to any kind of compensation?0 -
The JCP sanction you, not the WP provider. The WP provider will advise the JCP what has happened and then the latter decide whether to sanction you.
As for missing your interview, when you knew there could be a problem yesterday you should have looked at other ways of getting there, could no one have lent you the money?
What exactly do you want compensation for?0 -
As a footnote to this sad story, the Jobcentre will pay for you to attend a job interview when the employer does not meet the costs. You do need to arrange this BEFORE travelling to the interview, and usually they will give you a warrant for a rail ticket.0

So why weren't the buses running ?0

The travel to interview scheme now comes under the advisers discretionary fund. Each JCP will have their own criteria as to who is eligible, some will refer the claimant to their WP provider.0
