    I agree with the above sentiments, if you really must blow £12k on a car, then i too would bide my time until the right bargain comes along, probably in the depths of winter when no one else is looking and i would buy newish used.

    Have yourself a shortlist of possible makes and models and just keep perusing the ebay/trader ads, sooner or later a genuine private seller will need to offload their pride and joy, and by keeping the sharks out of the deal you both end up better off.

    I'd be very wary of Dacia, Indian built Dusters are rusting like discarded horseshoes (check the Dacia forum for corroboration), and whilst so far Logans appear OK, i have no doubt other results of paring things down to the cheapest possible will rear their heads in due course.

    You could pick a very fine nearly new Kia for £12k and still have 5 years warranty left.

    Just looked up that corrosion issue (wasn't aware of it) that's quite something, cheers for the headsup.

    Mind you, hands-up who saw a rotten S-Class Merc at a few years old... :P
