I guess what I am saying is.... Is it worth me paying for this if the OR can cash it in... sorry am a little foggy in this dept.
As an added note, I have only had this policy a year.
Hi, I think the OR will offer you the policy back if you pay them £50 but as you only took it out a year ago, cancelling your current policy then taking a new one out after you are bankrupt might be cheaper?

Ok peeps, just popped in to give a quick update.
The Charis Grant was forwarded online to British Gas for help with BR fee, not sure how long I will have to wait for a response, anyone that has done this and could offer a time frame for hearing back from them, I'd really appreciate this.
All DD's have been cancelled except
Rent
Car Finance
Car Insurance
TV Licence
Sky BB/Home Phone/TV package
Car Breakdown
These have been moved to new Minder account along with all income like Child/working tax, wages, maintenance etc.
I downloaded BR forms and finished one of them, but the SOA is taking a little time.
Do I need to register for any kind of BR interest or anything as I'm sure the Charis Grants said something about needing a reference number, only I didn't include this as didn't know how to get it.
I have had a good fleabay sell and made £150 which has gone into the invisible pot in case OR says the car has to go, so am up to enough to get a banger to get me to work at the very least, which is a great worry removed if nothing else.
Anyway, thank you all for your support and efficiency in answering my many questions, I thought I should update every so often rather than disappearing into the shadows in case anyone thought I had changed my mind or bottled it hahaha!:eek:Thriftkitten

Hi my BR 6.28 SOA form is asking for an income reference number.... Would this be my current tax code plz??
Also the form is a little confusing, where would I enter the Housing Benefit overpayment of 6.4k and arrears of council tax.... would this fall under unsecure debt, I don't see where I am supposed to put this on the formThriftkitten

You would put the debt down under the unsecured creditors section

I believe you'd put your tax reference code in that section.
You don't need to register anything prior to bankruptcy or let anyone know

Income reference number is your employers PAYE reference, should be on your payslip.0 -
My once beautiful American style mailbox that sits just inside my garden on a stake used to bring ripples of excitement when I would notice the flag was up (signals I have mail), However it now puts the fear of god into me, I dread the mail and over the last week or so I have started to become bombarded by all the letters from unsecure creditors telling me I have not paid and adding their fees on...
I am sure everyone reading this has been there before, but I have always paid my bills and lived according to whats left, so it's really quite scary getting those letters. I know I am still awaiting news on help with BR fees from Charis-(British Gas Trust) however the creditors don't.... What is my next step please as i have no idea of the time frame for hearing back from the grant, should I be sending out any letters to these companies asking them to hold the interest as I'm experiencing financial difficulty??? or do I plod along and keep bobbing and weaving until I get news on the BR fee grant. Many thanks once again for all of your help and advice.;)Thriftkitten

Hi,
The letters are horrible but just ignore them for now, file them away because you will need them when you are filling your forms in!
It took me 8 months to get my fee together, in that time I accumulated 100's of letters ! You can write to them if you want and tell them you have been discussing your financial problems with which ever charity has been advising you, they will probably hold off for 30 days or so. I didn't speak to mine at all, I had my head so far in the sand I could have suffocated

Actually I wondered about that as I have been ploughing through the BR forms online but worried that I will actually have much more owing by the time I can afford to file, so, probably silly to fill them in now... as by time missed payments etc go on.
Are you saying you didn't pay anything for 8 months.... wow I would be a quivering wreck by then. I'm a mess after 2 weeks.Thriftkitten

Nope, I just unplugged my phone and filed the letters in a recycling bag which I hid in the cupboard under the stairs
it was a very long 8 months though and I was terrified that someone would knock on my door and make a scene in front of my neighbours! a doorstep collected did come once but he didn't knock thank god, he hand delivered a letter asking me to ring, no thanks!
If you open the letters you will just find them blowing hot air! The letters follow a pattern 1)you forgot to pay, can you pay up please? 2) pay up or else! 3) you poor thing, you must be in financial difficulty, can we help? 4)we would like to offer you a discount if you have just found a couple of thousand down the arm of your sofa and can pay a lump sum! Then it will be rinse and repeat with a different debt collecting agency
It's easy for me to say but it's only money, they can't have what you haven't got! Once you have had your day in court you will feel so much relief! My OR was absolutely lovely and she must have been super efficient, I never had a single letter or phone call after I went bankrupt!
I hope you hear from charis soon!

Hi I am feeling a bit Jittery today after the weekend dodging the home phone and dreading the mail, I have spoken to someone at CAB and they will call me back within 48 hours to go through everything, I know almost all the procedure but I do feel that because I have not been through this before I need to know EVERY implication etc.
I have decided today to send sample letters of "Hold Action" to all creditors, not that it will help, but I feel I am doing the right thing for my not so distant day in court yadda yadda yadda!!
I have a question.... Could you tell me if I should send one to " Housing Benefit overpayment, I am up to date with my rent and continue to be, but the benefits plonked this overpayment on me to the tune of £6.5k. None of the money came direct to me, they say they we not informed of my foster boy returning back to his mother and have continued to pay housing benefit for him to my landlord.
I have just sent a final appeal which I am told is independant, but I wondered if they should get a " Hold Action letter too... I also have arrears on my council tax, but not sure if they should get one as it is a priority debt??? I am hoping to chip away at that with what I wont be paying to unsecure creditors this month and there after.Thriftkitten
