Does it matter if hes a chick or not?
dont be sexist! 0 -
Im being silly as i like being silly. Pinch of salt and all.
This sub-prime loan company "black horse" are refusing to give him credit for a reason. All banks are tightening their belts because theres a sub-prime crisis, people borrow more then they can afford to pay back and the banks have been letting them using creative credit methods so that they can get their sales bonus'. Guess what all those salesman and big city bonus' will be sacked off as we enter a credit overload induced recession.
They offered him 3K so if he has any sense hell save up the rest and then buy the car rather then resorting to the sell your life provident-esc super subprime lenders such as yes.
BTW this threads as old as the dodo so hes prob gone and done what hes gone and done. Some people learn the hard way and then again some people... never learn. Salt of the earth as they are slave labour for all their money pyramid superiors like me, they can hail me and be my slave.
Fair play Yant - I expected a whole mouthful, though I'm pleased to see the more sensible side - well maybe the slave bit is a bit over the top lol. I agree with you (and so many others) on the realistics of the scenario.
Also I did think it didn't really matter as the OP has probably done as they intended as you say. lol.

Not too bright are you Jay, realise your low capabilities then you'll never be disappointed.
Well you're the one who said that you were being silly. Yes your first post was sarcastic and funny but, you've posted too many idiotic comments which don't actually deal with the op's original question. Lower capabilites? (Assuming your still not being saracastic) That is you.0 -
Was thinking about a similar thing for myself - new car, something around £11k, but have a trade in of about £5K. I've had a look at what was available loanwise. Anyway, not too much if I'm honest. I can't get a personal loan because I have a bad credit rating caused by a period of unemployment 2 and a half years ago - no defaults or CCJS, but missed payments for about 5 months until I started working again (all £5K of arrears cleared over 6 month of making double payments on everything and living off jam sandwiches).
What point was I trying to make? Oh, right, looked into the alternatives to personal loans and secured loans was an option that kept being pushed upon me when I was getting quotes. Although the interest rates on these wasn't too bad at just under 8%, the early settlement fees were massive. Typically these were as much as £300 for every £1000 borrowed if settling in the last 25% of the term of the loan! The APR is clearly not the only thing to consider if looking at this as an option.
I've decided to make do with what I have at the moment. I have just changed job and get a £350 car allowance which is going on to paying of my last remaining credit card, so I should be debt free (bar a mortgage.......bah humbug) within 3 more months. Thereafter, I'm looking at just saving every penny I have and hopefully allowing time to repair my credit record. Another year or so of proving that it was the unemployment which was my downfall and that I am a responsible customer and hopefully I can get a decent personal loan offer for that new car.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
If your car is still in reasonable/good working order then would it not be better to save for a change of vehicle?
I'm not anti car loans myself. I've had them for three of my six cars but only when I have had to change due to car being on last legs or, in one of the three cases, written off. In fact, I am hoping my car gets through its MOT in September as I'm saving to change and won't have the cash until next summer. You do get far more for your money saving.0 -
so do black horse give finance for people with low credit scores due to too many searches, being under 21 and not having any history!0

Probably, but for the reasons I've found above, beware of hidden charges and if there are alternatives out there, consider them first.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
so it would be pointless to pay it early0
