Broadband speed

What's your broadband speed?
(NO FIBRE OPTIC, standard broadband, and how much do you pay?)

I am with SKY broadband, get 1.5mb on average, it's unreal how slow my broadband is, i have never in life experienced fast broadband, i find over 7mb super fast.
Its also due to where i live, the internet connection is particularly poor, i struggle to get more than 2mb max, unless i switch to fibre optic which is too expensive. (currently paying 15.40 including line rental)
Any ideas what i can do!

I used to get 13mb with Sky before I moved to virgin fiber optic.

Make sure your router is connected to the main socket (where the telephone line enters your home). Are you connected via wifi or Ethernet? Ethernet is faster than wifi but then you have to sit near the router.

Also check the noise filter is working properly or try to replace it to see if that is the culprit.

Virgin Media 50mb fiber optic is £21.50 for first 3 months then £26.50 and you don't need a phone for that plus £49.95 installation fee. Also you need to check if they provide service in your area.

    Hi,
I am connected via WiFi, as my laptop does not have an ethernet port.
Unfortunately i know Virgin do good deals, but my area is limited to only a few service providers, which is a shame.
And yes it is connected to the main socket, and still SO SLOW!

It may well be your WiFi not the ISP that is slow.
You really need to test via ethernet first to determine the speed .
