Hail stones and polycarbonate roof

We had quite a hailstorm this afternoon, and have sustained a lot of damage to our conservatory roof. There are now at least a hundred 20mm holes and round cracks in the top surface of the twinwall roof. Any tips on how the insurance company is likely to [STRIKE]wriggle[/STRIKE] react to this in tomorrow's phone call?

Storm damage to buildings - hopefully straightforward.
I would consider a new roof material if I was you.0 -
Their only real avenue could be that the roof had deteriorated due to wear and tear ("progressive deterioration") and not as a result of the hail.
But hopefully they won't try it on as the hailstorm was of biblical proportions, so they say.0 -
Plastics go brittle with age, How old are the roof panels?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Very doubtful. It ages, but wouldn't spontaneously break. The hail broke it, simple as. New for old, they shouldn't be able to use that excuse.0

Ah the old "act of god" thing.
Good luck though , the problem with insurance is that when you make a claim they wack up the premiums next year - grrrrrr.

Commiserations GG, we have experienced exactly the same yesterday (a Google search sent me here). Out of interest where in the country are you? Our pain is doubled somewhat by the fact that we have only just bought the house 4 days ago :-( :-(.
Oh and the twin-wall roof is 14 years old so I'm expecting a battle.0 -

There is no exclusion for "acts of god" on insurance, it's a myth.
I'd be surprised if they tried to say it's wear and tear - but let us know how you get on.0 -

I'm in East Dereham in Norfolk. They're sending out a company to assess the damage. The insurance company asked for my postcode and time of hailstorm, then they checked the weather for that period of time (as you'd expect). There is no exclusion for "acts of god" on insurance, it's a myth.

I concur regarding the 'Acts of God', or else no victims of the recent floods would have had a payout. Yes, I'll keep you informed once it's finalised. The £250 excess is bad enough though.0 -

It must have been the same set of hailstones- we're in Beetley (3 miles N of you)!! Talking to our neighbour yesterday AM, his roof has been damaged too. If you have any issues with proof for Insurance point them in the direction of this thread!
We have been told by Aviva to get a replacement quote(s). Assuming we get a phone connected tomorrow I will be phoning round. If I come across any contractors locally who are interested in such work I'll let you know.0
