eBay unpaid item case HELP !!!

Options
Hi
I'm looking for some help from you kind people.

I bid on and won a large item of furniture which I had been looking for for several months and I was really happy I won.

I contacted the seller to arrange collection and to pay on collection as I would normally do when an item is collection only.

The item of furniture is about a 7 to 8 hour round trip for me, but as its a hard to get item, Im happy to travel.

I arranged to collect and pay on the Saturday, explaining due to the travelling it can only be in the afternoon, and asked for the address to collect. the afternoon seemed fine at first but the seller was not giving me the address to pick up from.

I requested the address 3 times over as many days and still did not get it. but was getting messages trying to change time to morning or evening as seller kept changing arrangements.

Seller eventually sends the address around 10am on the Saturday I was due to pick it up !! Which was too late then to leave to pick it up as I didn't get the message until much later due to Internet on my phone.

We then made another arrangement to pick it up this Saturday afternoon, only to be told over a week later that she has now made arrangements to do something else on that day and I can only pick it up in the morning!!! as previously explained I can't pick up in the morning !!

Before I had a chance to reply to her message about her changing the time of collection she had opened an unpaid case against me !!!

I'm livid !! I've looked at eBay to appeal. It nothing seems to apply to me.

The buyer is just putting all obstacles in the way of me collecting and paying.

What do I do ?

Pay for the item with Paypal and that will stop a strike. You can report the seller for being a non-performing seller. You may find they just refund you, but if not you can open a case to get a refund.

If they send a request to cancel the transaction then you can say no. They'll still have to pay fees then.

You could just phone ebay and they should be able to resolve the situation.

Did you get at a very good price ? If the answer is yes, there is a simple explanation or the reason behind it , "she is not sincere to release her item on that price", so she is trying to sound like she was making an effort to accommodate collection in person. So she has a case when you report it to eBay.

I have been experiencing this sort of thing quite a few times. I normally win the auction at a very good price as I am doing a lot of research before bidding and I am using an auction sniper.

If there is a way to punish or at least to leave the negative feedback this sort of seller without effecting my feedback, I also want to know the answer.

Thank you flyonthewall, the items £100 so I didn't really want to pay for it if I can't get it.
Do you know ebays number as I can't seem to find it.

The appeal process doesn't seem to cover this senario.

If I go get a strike, what impact will it have on me. I've never not paid for anything before. Will it affect selling as well ?

    Hi Adindas

I think it might be that. The £100 was her starting bid and that's what I got it for. My husband seems to think that she doesn't want to let it go because it went so cheapl

Go to Customer Support logo on top of page and scroll down. Click on buying and then report a member. Then if you click Customer Support you will see a number to ring and also a pass number to use.

I tend to always use `Account Safety` so I can get Dublin rather than Manila! HTH

Sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers. As long as you're not only buying and leaving negative for all sellers you'll be fine. Too many cases opened and loads of negative feedback and ebay might look into it, but otherwise there's nothing a seller can do if you leave low stars and negative feedback. Although, some sellers may be lucky enough to get the feedback removed - it depends what you say in the feedback and they say to ebay. That wouldn't affect your feedback though.

If they leave a negative comment as a positive you can get it removed.

No problem. Don't blame you. 1 strike won't really have any impact - 2 strikes and you may be blocked from bidding on/buying items from a lot of sellers, but you can't block buyers with just 1 strike.

It won't affect your sellers account.

Just to clarify. If the buyer doesn't pay, the feedback and stars (if left already) will be removed when the NPB closes unpaid.

If it closes unpaid and the buyer hasn't left feedback, he won't be able to leave any at all.

Good point and one well worth noting.
