Trip Advisor. My account was disabled after 11 years. Why

There are several other posts running concurrently about Trip Advisor blocking/disabling contributors accounts. For it to reared it head so much recently I wonder if there is a glitch in TA system,s or it has been happening regularly before but just been highlighted. as I have already said on another post my account has been disabled for absolutely no apparent reason. The main issue hear is there is no way TA will tell you why it has taken this action.0

My account was blocked over a month ago. it seems it was as a result of asking a simple question on the forum which I had often done in the past. So far have been unable to contact Trip advisor to find out he reason. Do they ever reply and who authorises the blocking of accounts.0

Hi
As a DE for one of the forums on TA I have sent a message to the help section of TA asking about this problem. The info has been passed over and they say that I SHOULD receive a reply in 3 to 5 days.
If I get a reply I will let you know what TA are saying, I do not know if it will help but all I can do is try for you.0 -
I have now had a reply back from TA and here is the message they sent

Hi xxxxxxxx
Thank you for contacting TripAdvisor. No, we have not taken any actions or enabled any filters specific to UK members. We have recently received some reports, though, of members who have been unable to sign in after changing their passwords. Our engineers are currently investigating this issue, but in the meantime, affected members have advised they have been able to resolve the problem by clearing their browser cookies or signing into a different TripAdvisor site, i.e. tripadvisor.com instead of tripadvisor.co.uk (or vice-versa, depending on which site they normally use).
If a user's account has been banned, on the other hand, they should receive the error message "Your user account has been disabled" when they attempt to sign into their account. If someone is not getting this exact message, that means that their user account is not banned, and the steps above should resolve the issue, if it is a sign-in issue. If these members are actually able to sign into their accounts but are not able to post to the forums, there may be other issues that need to be resolved.
Without knowing which members are having the problems, though, I'm not able to determine which problem they are having. I would certainly be happy to investigate further if you can pass on the screen names of any of the members who are having trouble signing in.
Best regards,
Dan

Now i do not know if this helps anyone but at least I did get an answer from them. The only other thing I can offer to the people that are in the situation {but not before middle/end this week} is if anyone wants to PM me with their screen names I will try and get them over to TA to see what they can sort out
I do know that if any are banned TA MAY give me some info stating that point but that is not to say I can do anything to plead a case for them.
OK I have done for you what I can and I do honestly hope this can resolve the problem for some {if not all} of you.0 -
That is very Helpful London50. Please keep us updated on this forum. Is there an E Mail address for Dan at trip Advisor or once you have heard do you want us to make contact through yourself. Thank you again0

I wrote a negative review on Trip Advisor about a hotel I stayed at the hotel got the review removed and then my account was blocked maybe this is what happened to some of you?
I joined with a different email address and wrote another negative review for the same hotel but different wording and it never got published.
I don't see the point in posting on Trip Advisor anymore because honest reviews get removed.0 -

I think it may be better overall if anyone with what they think is an incorrect blocking on their account PM's me with the screen name they use on TA and I will pass them over to Dan to find out what is going on.
There are two reasons for this, one I do not have an email for him and two if I did I believe that being {dont take this word the wrong way}hassled by a number of people could result in nobody getting an answer.
As a member {and DE} for a number of years I have seen and heard of the way things are handled on the forums and while not saying that some are treated better than others;) ...make up your own mind.
I will pass on either at the end of this week/early next week any screen names that are sent through to me and as long as I get a reply I will pass any information back but can do no more than that0 -
OK if anyone in this situation wants to PM me with their TA screen name I will collect them up over the weekend and pass them on to TA to see if any of the issues can be resolved.
I cannot promise that your problems will be sorted or that I will even get any information back but at least I will try for you.0 -
Has anyone tried the CEO email? kaufer@tripadvisor.com He probably won't actually deal with it but may pass it on, particularly if bombarded with blocked TA users who cannot get in touch any other way.......
This is interesting http://www.fodors.com/community/forums-help/trip-advisor-they-disabled-my-account.cfm and an alternative to TA perhaps.
PS London50, you're being very helpful & I'm sure it's appreciated by 'the blocked'.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
My Trip Advisor account was disabled in January and I am still receiving regular E mails from them inviting me to write further reviews. My son's Trip Advisor account was also disabled because he tried to write a review on the same PC as a result of the IP number attahed to my PC. He then tried to write a review on someone elses PC which in turn resulted in his friend having his account disabled as his PC's IP number was also blocked. And so it goes on everyone connected gets penalised. What a farce. Trying to get any response from TA about this issue is impossible.0
