Trip Advisor. My account was disabled after 11 years. Why

I have been contributing by writing reviews on trip advisor since 2003. I have wriiten over 80 reviews. Suddenly for no apparant reason my account was disabled. I did not use swear words or say anything disparaging about any indidivual. I cannot find out why and as my account is disabled it will not allow to enter the support section to contact Trip advisor. Can anybody help. it makes me feel like a criminal and I have done nothing wrong (to my knowledge) Can i find out why my account has been disabled. Is this the action of an indivual at trip advisor who has not looked into my past histoy and the number of accepted reviews

  • I have had the same issue. Trip Advisor disabled my account without any apparent reason. I had been contributing reviews for over 6 years without any problems and then that happens. My IP address was blocked so I could not contact them. So I used a friends computer to try and reopen my account and they have blocked his IP address and his account. Then I tried going to the public library and opening a new account so I could contact their support section, which I managed. All they did was to was disable my new account. What a shambles and Trip advisor obviously are not interested or bothered. To make matters worse they are still E Mail both my friend and myself inviting us to write more reviews .

I have been writing reviews on Trip Advisor for a number of years. I am absolutely flabbergasted they can treat loyal contributors in this way and then there is no appeal about accounts being disabled. I will now rethink whether I am going to bother writing any more reviews. They could block my account for no reason it seems and then I would not know why they had taken this action.Surely there must be a way to contact them. what about customer services it seems it is non existent at Trip Advisor!!!

Trip Advisor disabled my account about 2 months ago after I had contributed a significant number of reviews and forum posts, without a problem for 6 years. The only possible reason for this action I can see is I queried a point in non aggressive way, as I disagreed with what was written, that was made on a Krakow forum . Trip advisor did not bother contact me to explain why they were taking this action. I have since received no response when I wrote to them and I even went to a public Library and set up a new E Mail address so I could write an E mail through to their support section asking them why my account had been disabled . What did they do they deleted all my previous reviews and forum posts, talk about being spiteful. So far as I can see no one has answered the query who makes the original decision at TA to disable your account. The idea of contacting Simon Calder appeal but would he even read it. How could you send copies of these post to him what would you need to type in so he received it. All the publicity about Trip Advisor seems positive but it is about time someone with a bit of clout took up with them the policy of disabling accounts without even allowing the contributor to respond or put up their side of the story. Possibly they might then take some notice and review their policy of disabling accounts if they received some adverse publicity.

  • I would think it is extremely unlikely that Trip Advisor will even consider replying to any E mail or correspondence that in any way even slightly criticises their policy. They have got so big they think they are beyond reproach. I have hared of numerous people who have had their accounts disabled for no apparent reason and with no right of appeal. I believe this is more often to do with something that is submitted on the forum rather than reviews but not always. I could be entirely wrong on this assumption, but what I do know is that Trip Advisor are not interested in entering into any communication if an account is disabled/blocked.

I suddenly can't log in to trip advisor. It doesn't say I am blocked but does this mean I am?

When you try and log in a red rectangular box with a red triangular warning sign will appear, with this in red...

"Your user account has been disabled."
  • I am not sure whether Blocked or disabled accounts are the same. Trip Advisor certainly stopped my account after writing on the forum asking about taxis prices from Krakow airport to the City centre. But because they block your IP number and E mail address there is no way you can contact them to protest.
  • I would just like to add my name to the list of people who have had their account disabled by Trip advisor for no apparant reason. It is ridiculous that there is no way one can contact TA to find out the reason why they have taken this action. is there a specific section in TA that authorises disabling account or is it one individual from a panel that takes it upon themselves to reach this decision
