Positive steps

Hi all, have been reading diaries and found such a lot of advice one in particular thanks to Shelbi about Dave Ramsey so have decided to give it a go and try his way as it makes sense and I have nothing to loose. Am in quite a bit of debt and on a DMP which I did myself, after paying a company about £30 a month for a while, saw the light and thought I can do this, have a mortgage for the next 6 and a bit years and a secured loan so would like to clear the lot by the time the mortgage or before if it all goes to plan. Have to go to work now will be back tonight to update a bit more.

Well work done with but in the weekend, every little helps. Just done a £1.99 payment into my saving account now the princely sum of £.83 only £592.17 to go and then can start paying my debts off. Seems a funny way of doing it but the other way didn't work and we had to use the credit card we had left for a washing machine as didn't have any savings so in a way I can see the sense.
Have 6 items on E-B*AY all with watchers but no bids yet, fingers crossed as this is all new to me.
Off to watch a bit of TV on my own tonight as OH works this evening and my DGS who lives with us has gone to stay at his aunties, good luck to her, still will crack open a bottle of Tes*o pinot and enjoy the peace. Will be back when I get fed up with the TV (probably in a half hour then)

  • TV wasn't as bad as I thought. Watched it will be alright on the night made me laugh which helps.

Might do an SOA later but at the moment I know that we are not earning enough to pay our outgoings but somehow we seem to get by
    and get things paid.

Our total DMP with various cards is £10,787.54 0 %
One credit card with 34.90% is £511
    Secured loan just under £19,700

and of course the mortgage which we are paying extra as my husbands business collapsed in Aug 2010 so we had 2 years of
interest free and now have to pay the extra until December this
year, which we have managed to do so far. 6 and a bit years to go

Just a bit about us: We have a busy household, we have 7 grandchildren and we look after a couple of them while their parents work, our DGS lives with us, will explain that further later,
me and my OH work part time and have a wonderful family who are very supportive of us and we try to help them, if not with money then with our time.

I have been looking on this site for years and find that everyone seems to support each other, and its a great way to vent and problems and also good times without troubling the family or friends. Also I love the ideas, I always start in January, the £1 a day which fades out by the end of January but I fill my pot with any silver coins I get my hands on. I also try and do a payment a day but at the moment my pad goes into my saving for emergencies, rightly or wrongly I would like to try and have that pad behind us.

Will try and report everyday, even if I havn't had any change in circumstances it is nice to be writing something down.

Now of to listen to a bit more Dave Ramsey
