Hi All,
I've received a quote through to replace my old boiler and do a couple of additional things.
Any chance you could have a look and see if it seems reasonable?
Valliant boiler 24 kw ecotec - £1000
Removal of cylinder - £250
Flue gas recovery unit - £700
System components, tf1 filter limescare descaler, copper/materials - £450
Power flush - £300
Controls/elctrical labours and programmer - £500
Technical support - £1000
Hope you can help!!!

I think we only have the recovery unit in there in order to be eligible for the extra Green Deal cashback.
I thought the Tech Support would be labour.....?0 -
Where are you based because that seems very expensive ??? You could get a loan out to pay for it. That way your repayments would be cheaper and the actual job itself would cost less aswell.0

I'm in Essex. What parts seem expensive? I don't want to take a loan out and have to pay interest. I will be entitled to £1600 cash back but I wanted to check the quote without that....0 -

The recovery unit is going to save him £1600 so net £700 saving by having the flue gas heat recovery on this quote.
Guessing techinal support is Labour, worth getting other quotes off other green deal installers as well.
With the 1600 cashback your entitled to your not going to get a better quote from a non green deal installer so no point asking any one who can't offer the cashback.
But seems pretty ok, might be able to knock 100-200 off by asking or playing two quotes off one another."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

I would disagree.
The total for the above quote is £4200 -£1600 cash back = £2600
I think a non green deal installer would still be competitive! They wouldn't charge to remove the cylinder as it would be part of the labour. The controls would be much less than £500 and they don't have the huge overheads that come with being a green deal installer.0 -

As a non green deal, Gas safe registered installer installer myself I would estimate that this work Including the recoflue sould cost around £2500.00 + VAT. Green deal is suited mainly for bigger company's due to the cost of becomming a green deal installer hence green deal is stuggling to get smaller company's to join up, leaving the bigger company's to inflate costs.0 -
speaking as a GDI, the mark up for going through the gd is 10-20% at most.
This is no where near the 1600 available"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
We don't know if the above is plus or including VAT so you are competitive! There is no mention of gas pipe upgrade or TRV's so it may be a straight forward conversion.
I am also a non green deal installer and I dont think many would bother with the flue gas heat recovery if there was no cash back offered.0 -
Sorry, I've just seen all of your responses.
This does include VAT. When he came round he mentioned about changing the pipes, as they are only plasticky ones, but I'm not sure where that is in the quote.
I think I will try and get one quote from a non Green Deal Installer and see how it compares.
