£16.40 withdrawn from TCB today, I have had it paid into my bank account.
I normally get Amazon vouchers as they give you a bonus on those but I have spent about £21 on Amazon in last couple days so thought I would just get some of that cash back instead.
Having a quiet day as had a busy one yesterday and been a bit poorly, must sort out my car insurance on Friday 1st when the interest has hit the TSB account.
Also got to juggle monies around to pay in the £500 for that account too (have to pay in £500 per month for the 5% interest).
Will need to take some out and then put it back in next day.......
Going to have a hunt for the mortgage calculator spreadsheet too now....
Just over 3 weeks until my baby is due! :eek:Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
I was just thinking when I saw you post that your baby must be due soon!
I think the TSB interest is the 2nd working day of the month, or paid in at the very end of the 1st working day, as I remember ours being a day later than I'd expected. Hope you get a good deal ont eh car insurance :money:0 -
Thanks Becky, it got paid in on 1st of this month so will check in the morning and see if its paid in and if not will sort out the insurance anyway, would put it on a credit card but they normally charge a fee for that on insurance....
Did a Sainsbury's online shop today for just over £100 but stocked up on loo rolls and got a load of food in so I can do some batch cooking over next few weeks for when baby comes.
I did buy jars of sauces, might be brave enough to try from scratch one day...
I intend to start meal planning, want kids to have more variety in their diets too.Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Hello, just been looking at your diary - a very exciting time for you.
Although I'm at a completely different stage of my life, I identify with all the things that you are doing, as I'm also learning to live on less money.
Good luck with your plans, you sound very organised, so I'm sure you'll do wellEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Car insurance cost me £356 through Privilege in the end.
First time I have moved away from Admiral since passing my test 3 years ago but I rang them and they could get my renewal down a bit but not enough still.
They also don't charge for using a credit card so stuck it on the Barclaycard which means I can keep the money in the TSB account for a bit longer although unfortunately it will need to be paid on the statement I will get next week.
Got £4.84 interest from that yesterday and put in another £200 today so will need to put in £300 in on 25th for the £500 a month payment.
It currently has £1840.60 in it but you only earn interest on the first £2k.
But I will be dipping into that account more once my maternity pay kicks in.
Cooked curry last night for dinner, frozen half of it for next week and our cupboards and freezer are rammed right now so will try clearing those out before buying much else.
OH has given me permission (lol not really) to try and get someone round to quote for a new front door, thing is trying to explain to them that we plan to sell the house in next year or 2 so only want a basic door nothing fancy and no we don't need all new windows either!! :cool:Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Checked our joint bills account and it has £4120 in it now OH's £1400 has gone in.
£4 interest and £3.40 cashback on that account too from Club Lloyds.
Got a quick quote online for a new front door and one local company wants a minimum of £572....
I was thinking spending £400 tops.....might have to go down another route....:cool:Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Would that be for a upvc door? I'd be pleasantly surprised if you could get one fitted well for less than £500. We had a new (composite) one fitted this year and it was closer to £1000 inc. VAT (our quote didn't include VAT so had to remember to add it on!)
Do you definitely need a new door before you sell the house?
Well done on the car insurance, they're a bunch of thieves when it comes to renewals!0 -
Our door is wooden and splitting so yes we need one.....I guess we could fill the holes and clean and revarnish it first and see how it looks but its letting out heat.
Looks like we can reduce our broadband bill by about £13 a month by changing our package so going to sort that out.
We are paying £3.50 per month for a internet phone number we didn't know we had or needed... so wish we had more choice than BT. :cool:Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Feeling very hormonal today......been stressing about money and pretty much everything in the world last couple of days guessing its pregnancy hormones.
My Dad gave me £100 to put towards my car insurance the other day, have £25 of it left as had a massage yesterday and went out for dinner too and brought a couple baby bits so am aiming to live off that until payday on 25th august....(hoping baby will come early so no chance of going out to spend cash...) so have transferred another £50 into the TSB account to cheer myself up LOL!
Have £66 in my main/salary bank account with £11 in DD's for cat insurance to go out.
Hopefully that other £50 will still be in there on 25th too.Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Hi LM, exciting to hear baby is due very soon. You sound very organised and I'm in no doubt when baby is here and you are in a routine you'll settle into your old money making / saving ways very quickly.0
