Car Deposit

I paid a deposit on a car that I found on AutoTrader. While I was discussing the repairs with the seller before I paid the full amount, I noticed that the seller had put the advert back on AutoTrader. Is this a criminal offence? Can I get my deposit back? The seller is not replying to my messages.
I'm puzzled by your post, if I advertise a car on autotrader, the advert remains even after the deposit is taken (and even after the deposit is taken, the car is still for sale to the 1st person that completes the deal) , if the viewer is not content with the car at the price, it is their responsibilty to look and find a better one elsewhere.
If it is from a trader I don't understand why customers leave a deposit on a car that requires amenments, the dealer can do the amendments then take the deposit.0 -
Do you mean there is no additional cost for leaving the advert there?0

How did you pay0

Why should there be? You pay for 1, 2 or 3 weeks or whatever, , if you pay for 3 weeks and the car sells 2 days later, you don't get a refund, likewise, someone leaving a deposit may not complete, so the vehicle is still available.0 -
So why do you think they took it off then?0

Don't take it the wrong way, I don't care why they took it off to put it back on, if indeed they did take it off.
The main crunch of your post is that you want your deposit back and do not wish to conclude the deal, so that is the lines I would expect to read of your posts, don't worry about the next viewer, sometimes you have to only worry about yourself, and on this occasion, be selfish and worry about yourself.0 -
Most of your questions are irrelevant. The trader is the one you need to be speaking to by whatever means, message, email, phone, in person.
It's not a 'criminal offence' to put an advert in Autotrader.0 -
Just to update you. I spoke to AutoTrader, they agreed that the seller shouldn't have done that and instructed them to pay my deposit back. The money is in my account now.0

Could be just coincidence that the deposit is back, and not upon their instruction.
As said my car was sold in less than a week but I left the advert on for the remaining 3 weeks.
If the car isn't sold then why shouldn't the seller be able to re-list it?0 -
Must remember not to comment on BS, fishy first posts.
Autotrader cannot, have not and never will intervene in a seller (the people who give them their wealth)/buyer (the person they couldn't give a toss about) dispute.0
