Car Deposit

Options
I paid a deposit on a car that I found on AutoTrader. While I was discussing the repairs with the seller before I paid the full amount, I noticed that the seller had put the advert back on AutoTrader. Is this a criminal offence? Can I get my deposit back? The seller is not replying to my messages.

How long have you been "discussing" repairs?

What you'll find is that the trader hasn't put the advert back on, he's let it continue until the deal is fully done. You never know, it might save you money if he finds a buyer quickly if you pull out and post here wanting your deposit back.

I had an RAC inspection done that took about a week. They took the advert down and put it back on again.

Surprised it's not gone back on at a cheaper price as well, then the next customer gets the usual 'sorry, that one's sold, look at the more expensive one here.....' when they inquire about it.

This is scam, they just take your deposit and run away. they have probably taken thousands of pounds like this.

There are no terms and conditions on the receipt. It is just written on half an A4 paper.

I do not think that you can ask for the deposit back then, but I am not sure of the legalities, just my opinion which may be completely wrong.
