7 year old water bill.

Hi All

If anyone can give me some advice on this I would be very grateful.

Affinity Water (previously Thames Water) have sent me a bill and a second letter threatening further charges etc for £19.92 for my previous address where I lived 7 years ago. I thought I had settled my bill when I moved house and have had no correspondance from them in the 7 years.

Obviously I am not happy about paying for something I though I had settled.

Thanks

Simon

    Hi Simon,

The best thing you can do is to give them a call.

In a similar situation, I received a failed DD letter from British Gas after 1.5 years I left them and when I called them, It turned out to be a computer glitch.

Did you give a correct forwarding address so correspondence could be sent?

If you 'thought' you had settled when you moved, ask for an itemised bill.

After 6 years the debt should be statute barred.
