02 Now Charging for 08 numbers!!!
Just about to get a new O2 contract and was told that O2 are now charging for 0845 & 0870 numbers within your inclusive minutes like all the other networks :mad: . If you have an existing contract that includes them then you will still continue to get them but on any new contracts they have stopped!!
This really is one of the biggest rip offs by telephone companies there is I know there is a site with alternative numbers but there are a lot without alternative numbers and the number of companies using 0870 & 0845 numbers is increasing all the time making money for both the companies and the the networks (mobile and landline) non of which include it on there price plans now so free evening and weekend calls etc etc claims are a complete nonsense. Come on OFCOM get your act together!!
As for O2 I will now be changing networks as a protest, I stayed with them even if it was not the best deal purely because they included these numbers. Well I have got that off my chest!!

You may be shooting yourself in the foot!....As if you look at 'Spinningsheeps' post in 2 threads up he says that if you renew your contract with 02 they will probably let you keep your inclusive 0845/0870 numbers.0

Yes, I know that and if you are going to pay full price for your contract fine but I normally take out a new deal each year on a 12 month contract 12 month free or as close as I can get to that so whilst I may lose the 08 numbers advantage I will still save approx £30/month on a cashback deal. I will not be spending that much a month on 08 numbers. For the last 3 years I have had O2 contracts even if a little more expensive but as I say not this year. I see it has O2 using the 08 rule only if you renew as a method of retention.0

I now HATE o2. For years I have phoned the retention line and got offered discount, and a new phone. They are flat out refusing to do that this year. They are charging more for tariffs, they won't give discounts, so I'm on a sim only contract for the same money but LESS minutes and NO new phone. AND I've lost the 0845/0870 numbers.
I'm looking elsewhere too.0 -
It really amazes me that people actually PAY for their contracts!0

As opposed to doing what dude?0 -

It won't if you don't know what you're doing! And compared to what people are saying about going direct it's NOT actually expensive anyway!0

I have a cashback deal with CPW (which I have banked 2 chqs off). I got my current phone Nokia - N73 - still pay about £22 a month - or are you talking about these SIM only deals ....? Problem with that - I want a free N95 when current contract expires next month (Plus I'd like to keep my inclusive - non georgraphical numbers - not much to ask I s'pose
)

Depends how much you know. Personally, I'd rather have a totally free deal WITH 08 numbers included in the bundle. The best phone is a bonus - but since I now have so many (all free including the contracts) I think I could live without another one! There aren't any free sim only deals at present. I'm afraid you'd just HAVE to put up with a phone too (but not the N73). For the last few days I've had to resist the afore-mentioned deal - but then, I'm just plain greedy. Besides, juggling with 8 current cpntracts and about to get two more gets a little complicated....0

8 contracts???????
