Parking Eye ticket, ignore??

Options
Hello! I recently received a parking ticket for parking at Corley Services on the M6. My car refused to start for 2 hours and I called the AA out. Eventually my car did start again before the AA came and I drove away after a very frustrating 2 hour 40 minute stay. Needless to say parking was the least of what was on my mind at the time.

From what I've read it seems perfectly acceptable to ignore the letter and ensuing threats as they will not amount to anything.

My question is, is this the correct course of action, or should I try and fight it?

Ignoring has not been a realistic option for a very long time now - and you have not read any current advice on this forum that suggests it!

As above - get yourself into the Newbies Sticky for the most up to date info on your situation and how to deal with it. :)

    quite definatly not
PE will follow this to the small claims
You can appeal in PE in a given time span and then they will refuse to review it.
So read your ticket and dates
The sticky thread has all the info
If you are within the appeal period to PE appeal within the period with template letter
This WILL be refused but you will receive a POPLA Code to appeal a 2nd time
Again a standard template letter is presently bringing u through this, and ticket gone

The POPLA is get out of jail card

The advice has been to definitely *not* ignore for quite some time now. As Bergkamp has indicated, please look through the sticky threads at the top for the current best practice, including letter templates that you can make use of.

Follow that advice and you should be able to negotiate your way to not paying this speculative invoice you've received with relative ease.

Just a word of warning. Get out of the mind set that you have received a parking ticket. It's not a ticket. Only The Police and Council appointed Traffic Wardens where a local contravention order exists can issue parking tickets.

You have receive an invoiced demand for monies over an alleged breach of contract/trespass on private property.

These are more than often unenforceable, phishing exercises for cash. Only the ignorant and gulliable part with their cash without a fight.
Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.

this is most definitely NOT ACCEPTABLE and hasnt been for nigh on 2 years !! (oct 2012 when POFA 2012 came into force)

I cannot see any evidence of you reading recent advice (anything over the last 16 months) in your statement above

ignoring this is the best method if you wish to go to court or obtain a possible CCJ ? if that was what you wanted ?

reading the newbies thread , appealing to PE with mitigation included, then if necessary going to popla with a suitable appeal (not mitigation however) - those are the steps a rational well read person would take , which you are of course ;)

so read the newbies sticky thread at the top of the forum, then read your first post again and cough and splutter like I did when I read it , lol :)

You want to be sued then do you? Please read the NEWBIES sticky thread and appeal and win. Stop reading old 2012 threads, why do people read old stuff on forums?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Woops! My mistake.

Now I don't know whether to just pay to avoid the faff of the appeals.

    Decisions!

How difficult is the appeals process?

Oh, for goodness sake, what are you actually reading? First you read 18 month old advice, and even when brought up to date with ALL you need to win, you think that handing money over to such [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] is acceptable? Words fail me.
  • Why is everyone so mean? I was just asking for advice. Not everyone is as good at the internet as some people. Hence why I asked. And thank goodness I did. I also don't have time to read ALL of the advice right now as I'm working 3 jobs and and working on lots of volunteer projects. And only able to think about this when I have a spare moment, which would actually be put to better use preparing for work. So yeah, actually handing over money might be my easiest option as it will be no stress.

Is being broken down for a couple of hours and then the car magically starting again grounds enough for appeal? I called the AA but they never came as the car started before they came.
