Can you take our Euros in ATM machines here? No. Why would you think ATM's in the rest of Europe would carry sterling?

    Edit:
I see you are talking about Turkey specifically, would have been better if you'd have put that in your OP rather than 'abroad'.

Turkey does seem to have a relationship with sterling, perhaps that is why you can do it there, but in Europe, no.

Yes turkey I'm on about specifically

Added turkey to title, sorry that was my fault.

I am pretty sure that I took out Sterling in Ichmyler last year.

Just draw it out and change it - I think that the bank probably take off the fee as they would if you took off local currency - but local currency would be at a better conversion rate than you would get locally
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Hi, Yes you probably did, the bank takes 2% (min £2) which is fine by me, I disagree with what you say though, I belive and have been well informed that a lot of people take sterling from a cash machine avoiding the NSTFee and then changing in local places comission free also and getting a really good rate at the mo.

Actually you might be right, I've just done a quick calculation and I think I might get an extra 15 TL if I take currency from the machine, As you say the rates (Visa Euro exchange rates) are always higher than local places.

    Gets me thinking now!!

There are some ATMs in the most touristy areas of Turkey (so maybe 0.0001% of the total ATMs) that dispense Euro and Sterling as well as lira. I can't see it being worth doing as you'd lose more on the conversion and I don't imagine these ATMs are fee-free.

Hi, I believe all ATM's abroad allow you to take sterling euro's and local currency.
Thanks, Funny how some of the forum members on here don't know that you can withdraw sterling from a cashpoint abroad, LOL

Obviously they don't know what they are talking about which I'm surprised at from experienced members.

The point is your intial question and assumption you later made that ALL atms dispense local currency and sterling is factually incorrect.

I have been to istanbul and used an ATM there and withdrawing sterling was not an option.

    OMG LOL WTH etc etc
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right

Oh, but you can...in a handful of specialist cash points in central London and at UK airports you can. Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about...tsk and you, an experienced member!

    ;)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I was going to edit my post to mention the few that there are, but I couldn't be @rsed when the OP said he was only referring to Turkey ;)
