Sorry, where has this profit stuff come from? Profit on what?- it's relatively unlike that the people would be eligible for HB for 60 years (jobs and family size is likely to change over 60 years)
- even if they did need HB for 60 years, they wouldn't justify a family sized house so HB would fall
Absolutely no one has suggested that once a tenant has a social home it can never be taken off them once circumstances change. That was a mistake of the past. We don't have to repeat it, and indeed, tenancies are no longer granted in such a way.0 -
There are new rules coming in this year, to give extra incentive to Council tennants in England, i will benefit from this as i have a flat with my council ..0

therehave been many mistakes in the past and we can clearly do better.
however, my own view is I think we need to consider the housing needs of young nurses, teachers, utility workers, engineers etc as well as the unemployed and single mothers.
we need more houses for everyone so the price can fall and more people can enjoy the benefits of ownership or cheaper rental (whatever is their choice).0 -

The private rental market is a mugs game.
It's actually quite lucrative and by my experience, relatively secure.
For the tenants, they are generally getting a better quality property at an acceptable monthly rate.:wall:
