TalkTalk - Letting my account proceed to a Debt Collection Agency?

I have had TalkTalk "Plus TV, Broadband and Phone" and the line rental now since October 2013 so I estimate there to be about ten months left on my contract. I moved house In March of this year and am unable to move the service to this address. I have left everything as it is for the time being as If I cancel TalkTalk will charge me the remainder of the contract period which I estimate to be around £345.00 and I can not afford to pay this upfront.
However soon new tenants will be moving into my previous address and I do not want them using my service, Nor do I want them running up bills!
If I cancel the Direct Debits and send them a letter stating that i wish to end my contract and the reasons why and they send me a bill which I am unable to afford to clear, I could then arrange a repayment agreement with the Debt Collection Agency when they get involved?
I am just wary of this as I work for a DCA and I can not be getting any CCJs. Any helpful advice?

TT will put a marker on your credit report long before it passes to a debt collection agency. The sensible thing to do would be to try and arrange a payment plan with TT first. If they say no then i guess your only option is to wait till it gets passed to a collection agency. As you know they have a duty to consider any reasonable offer to repay the debt but you probably also know that in general they dont really care.
Either way a CCJ would be a long way off if it ever happened. Mobile providers for example will never take the case to court, i doubt TT would be particularly quick to do it despite the threats they may make.0 -
have you spoken to them as i'm sure if you want to move it but they can't, an agreement to terminate through non fault would be reached. although TT are complete muppets, they sometimes show a human side.0

Until you talk to them you won't know what the early termination charge wll be. Certainly in the past they would want the full amount but I think the rules have changed and they can't do that now - all they can charge is some proportion of the full monthly charge x months left.0
