- it could effect a lot of people - my family uses 6 numbers all from the same IP address

It became part of their T&Cs at the last amendment (probably 07/07)

7.3If we have reason to believe that an individual entrant to our competitions or prize draws has made 30 or more entries using different phone numbers (or other details on which limits on number of entries are based) from any one entry platform then the Promoter will treat this as an attempt to unfairly influence the interactive service and all entries submitted by that entrant will be discounted
7.4If we determine that an individual has attempted to unfairly influence or manipulate an interactive service then in addition to disqualification and/or discounting entries, votes or polls for that interactive service we may (in our sole discretion) ban that individual from future interactive services and disqualify and/or discount any future entries, votes or polls made in respect of our interactive services

To those saying that going around Captcha's is "wrong", I think you underestimate how easy it is for those who really "spam" and "automate" to really get around this. Even if your paying for a Capthca solving service it's only about £1 per 1k captchas (so like £2 a month for all of the itv comps!).

If anyone wants to know if ITV would catch and ban you for it, simply look at the submit string for the competition. Does it also submit the matched recaptcha verification string?... If it doesn't then they don't record that info and likely don't care.

It's interesting to see their move away from X entries per phone number, I have been using old Mobile numbers for a while now to really bump up my entry count. I wouldnt feel left out if it was X per person or address (free path) or X per number (paid path).
