Hi
I started a city and guilds teaching course with Bright Assessing. They stopped replying to my emails and then sent me an email saying they would terminate my account becuase I was dormant. They did not give me a qualification.
A few days ago I received these two emails:
Does anyone know anything about this?
I've lost nearly £500 and no qualification.
What to do please MSEs?
I started a city and guilds teaching course with Bright Assessing. They stopped replying to my emails and then sent me an email saying they would terminate my account becuase I was dormant. They did not give me a qualification.
A few days ago I received these two emails:
Please read this email carefully, it contains information about your personal data and the qualification you have undertaken with Bright International Training Ltd as well as a questionnaire you will shortly receive. Please note that I am not writing to you on behalf of, nor am I affiliated with Bright International Training Ltd in any way.
To whom it may concern,
You are receiving this email because your name and email address were discovered on a database held by Bright International Training Ltd that has been leaked. The document contained your name, email, town/city and qualification that you were undertaking. My name is Daniel, I was a Bright learner left with no qualification and no money following recent events at the company and I now administrate the website www.brightassessing.info and the Facebook page www.facebook.com/brightproblems that I set-up to support others in a similar situation. I was sent the database with your information on it anonymously and I am contacting you now for two reasons. Firstly to tell you that your data has been compromised, it contains your name, email address, town and qualification type, and secondly to make you aware of the situation with Bright International Training Ltd in case you have not been previously informed.
You may have seen the recent media coverage of Brights problems in The Sunday Times, FE Weekly and Private Eye magazine as well as numerous local publications. Bright have been investigated by the NCFE awarding body and subsequently disqualified for malpractice. What this means is that a number of qualifications have been revoked and many more are being re checked. It has also become apparent that Bright have not been registering learners with the awarding bodies for quite some time now and this means that a large number of people have been left with no money, no qualification and no entitlement to a duty of care from the awarding bodies.
If you are awaiting certification you may want to contact your awarding body to check that you have been registered. If you have any concerns about the reliability of your qualification that you have received then you should contact your awarding body. If you believe that have any evidence of wrongdoing during the completion of your qualification then you may wish to contact the relevant bodies.
If you are not sure then the support group is here to help! I will make the point that Bright, in what limited communication they give are insisting that learners will be transferred to another training provider, although they will not name this provider.
What now?
You will shortly receive a questionnaire, it has only a handful of questions and will take less than a minute to complete. It is anonymous and it would be greatly appreciated if you could complete it.
If you do not wish to be contacted again regarding this matter then you need do nothing.
The only email you will receive is the questionnaire, ignore it and I will not contact you again and the Police have been informed about the database. Once everyone has been contacted the database will be deleted permanently.
If you do not wish to be contacted again but do not mind filling in the questionnaire, this would be greatly appreciated to build a picture of what has happened. Fill in the questionnaire but leave the email section blank.
If you would like updates on how the situation with Bright is progressing please either visit www.brightassessing.info or simply reply to this email with 'yes' and I will put you on the mailing list.
If you have any concerns about your qualification please email me with more information and I will, without prejudice, be happy to offer you some general advice.
If you have any concerns about Bright International Training Ltd or any information that you feel may be relevant to a Police Investigation, please get in touch.
Information may also be available at the social media site: www.facebook.com/brightproblems
Please be aware that I am receiving a large number of emails so please do not be offended if there is a delay in response.
Thank you for your time
Kind Regards
Daniel
Hello,
As mentioned in my previous email, please find the survey link below. It should only take a minute and would be greatly appreciated if you could complete it. All information is treated in the strictest confidence and will be anonymised.

How did you pay the fee?0

This email looks to be a rogue employee and even says at the top he's not affiliated with the company!
I'd treat it with skepticism and contact your company directly.0 -
Looks like there may be an element of truth to what "Daniel" says:

I can understand some suspicion as you do have to be careful with emails. however what Daniel says is coche, and his site Bright training problems is an excellent site. it says what it says on the tin and he is to be commended for setting up his Facebook site
The infighting has not helped the learners in their quest to get publicity. the key to obtaining maximum publicity was Lindsay mccurdy, but it looks as though it has been ruined by a learner and a non learner attacking Lindsay. AS A RESULT THERE IS NO MEETING IN STRATFORD BETWEEN THE LEARNERS POLICE AND THE AWARDING BODIES WHICH LINDSAY WAS ARRANGING.. THE PRESS WOULD ALSO HAVE ATTENDED PLUS PROBABLY THE TV.
Thanks for ruining things.for all the learners, things could have been so different0 -
Thank you.ThumbRemote wrote: »How did you pay the fee?
I paid by debit card in September 2013?
I'm thinking to contact City & Guilds to see if I was registered for the course. What the best contact physical address. I want a formal letter so if I go to my bank they can see a proper formal letter.
If City & Guilds say I was not registered for the course does that mean theft / fraud and they can reverse the transaction?
Thank in advance.0 -
Your bank may be able to do a chargeback. Best to talk to them and see what evidence they need.0

Have you seen the other thread on this forum called "Retraining as an Assessor." It looks like Bright International can be thankful for all the infighting between a learner and a non learner attacking a lady who was trying to organise a meeting in Stratford.
Thanks to this pointless spat, the lady called Lindsay has called off the meeting in Stratford. If the meeting had gone ahead it would at least have helped bring closure to the learners, as with her invaluable contacts she had organised for the Police, the Awarding Bodies, and other Training Providers to be present. Not to mention the publicity it would have generated.
The Facebook page called "Bright Training Problems" has kept this all quiet, but if learners want to know why this meeting has been called off, see the other thread on this site. "Bright Facts" has gone quiet, but the "Bright Training Problems" page has also gone quiet, because with the meeting called off there is nothing much else to talk about!
I for one hope that Lindsay can somehow be persuaded to call it back on.0 -

Thanks.
I'll ask them ASAP.0 -
Terrific to hear NCFE trying to wangle there way out of the mess created by Bright. . If they had listened to Andrea and Anthony almost a year ago now, they would have seen for themselves what a rotten company Bright were. Yet these two people were looked upon as troublemakers. Robust my foot, NCFE are a joke, and not a very funny one at that.0

Paid with Visa Debit Card within the last 540 days?
Get your Visa Chargeback in NOW!
A few notes:
-Pages 717-719 from the link below apply
-Remember the rules state that you can claim up to 120 from "the date that the Cardholder was first made aware that the merchandise or services would not be provided" - so keep that in mind when talking to the bank! I remind you that up until June (well within the 120 days) Bright were telling learners that a new service provider would be used so 'you had no reason to believe the service would still not be delivered'.
-The staff in the Branches probably don't know about this scheme, the banks like to keep it quiet! Call your bank and ask to speak to the Retail Disputes Team or Debit Card Team.
-Do not allege fraud, this invalidates the claim (no idea why).
