    Morning ALL!:D

I'm the same re waste...would rather leave stuff on the shelf and let some one else make use of it...than buy something for pennies that will not get used!

after hearing all the stories of fruit mountains...I did wonder how long it would be before hearing the stories of rotting fruit...

I wonder how much of the free fruit bought last week ends up in this weeks bin collection:(

    anyone wanna post a picture?

We bought 10 papers and got enough fruit and veg for all of us (plus some spare) I wasn't sure what would be too much and what wasn't enough but think I balanced it right :)
So far I've thrown away 2 pears which were half eaten and the kids have decided they don't like them (rest of the pears have gone to a neighbour) and 2 peaches that turned before the best before date.
So today I'm making crumbles and jams :D
Any suggestions for fruity desserts that use loads of jus rol pastry :)

I got 10 also plus a few to give away :D and must have better fruit and veg than everyone else as nothing has gone of yet. we filled the freezer with the veg and made lots of jam, and jelly. today am going to make peach jam and use the last strawberrys with the jostaberries that need picking in the garden, so we have had to date no wastage even the peelings went to the hens,

my lot like puff pastry cut into squares, sprinkle with milk and sugar then cooked and filled with fruit sliced and mixed with a little jam and cream , making it for tonight, or cook the fruit in the pasty like apple puffs.. fruit tarts are always good as well.

I don't know why I feel like I need to justify myself but after reading a few comments and considering I posted a picture of my empty fruit bowl and then a full one, I would just like to say I ran my fruit bowl down when op posted that a fruit voucher was coming and I used the vouchers to spend what I normally would but what these vouchers did was allow me to buy a better quality fruit ( supposedly ) and fruit we wouldn't normally be able to afford and the only fruit I have chucked away was what had gone mouldy within 18 hours of purchase which is not acceptable regardless of wether I used a voucher or cash

Yep, it seems like this is the case generally for most people who've mentioned gone off fruit. I bought 2 punnets of strawberries on Thursday, went to make jam on Saturday morning to find a couple of VERY mouldy ones, even though they were technically still in-date and had been kept in the fridge. I also had peaches and apricots go off on Sunday whilst still in-date. When I've bought these things elsewhere previously they've lasted a lot longer than a couple of days or so, so I was pretty disappointed to find how quickly things went off.

It seems to me that actually most people are doing their best to use up what they can as quickly as possible, whether by eating/freezing or preserving or baking, and even some people who have never tried jam-making before have had a go, which I think is pretty commendable really. The MSE Old-Stylers would be proud :D

rhosynbach might disagree, but I normally do 1kg of sugar to 1kg of fruit, so equal quantities.

    Morning all
Started off quite bright and sunny here this morning but has become grey and dismal now :(

Morries f&v almost all eaten now, made some delicious lemonade with a few bags of lemons and had so much fun seeing my dgs face when the peas popped out of their shells.

Got the leerdammer coupon (many thanks to op), we like the cheese and the bonus for me is I don't have to cut it!

Am picking up my first cc for reeds later so wish me luck:D

    I'm still learning :D
I know strawbs are equal quantities but my Mum told me she does peaches with a bit less sugar (love the way she's so vague!)
I thought I'd get multiple opinions and work from there :)

    Morning all.
    Well I'm shattered lol.
Bike ride at 6.30 then at 8.45 walked to local town, 30 mins each way. Carried shopping home, cut lawn, went on tomorrow's bike ride so I don't have to get up at 6.30 to go :D as I fancy a little lay in.
Just to tackle housework, upload receipts, go pick strawberries, make some Bolagnaise sauce for freezer with M veg and then I think I'm done. Best get cracking ;)
    Glad asbo feeling better
