But if she only has 3 weeks left, an idea might be to just buy some copper pipes from B&Q, put them around the skirting boards, then in 3 weeks time, return them to B&Q for a refund.

They have seen them come through from under the skirting on the outside wall of the lounge. And the boys have clearly marked the spot with the words "Slug gate" on the skirting board. :rotfl:
