If you can't afford an accountant then give this company a call. They will help you get your SA done. Their fees are very reasonable. http://www.fixedfeetaxreturn.co.uk/
I'm not connected to them in any way, I just read the Guardian article

well I would have to hunt them out I would say 0 but I think they still have me down as in receipt of ESA which I am not I will have to call them I think.0 -
There is this charitable organisation that helps people in the construction industry going through difficult times.

I don't actually know anything about them personally, but they may be worth a try and if they can't help they might be able to put you in touch with other organisations.
Seems a real shame that you are made to feel like it's not worth carrying on with your career when all you need is a bit of support.
Well done for what you've achieved so far and I really hope you can get something sorted. Best wishes.0 -
Thank you so much for your kind words. My wife does manage my diary and book my appointments already but she cant meet customers because to be honest she doesnt know what she is talking about when it comes to carpentry.
Also I have to hide my condition the best I can from customers because if you search my condition on the internet it makes me out to be a sadistic serial killer or a con man which I am niether, I just want to earn an honest days wage for an honest days work
Don't hide who you are, but there is no need to divulge your condition to anyone..they may just think your a grumpy ole man so let them think that!:D Or plaster a big smile on your face, complete your work and go and thrash a few golf balls at your local golf club..
Arrange to meet any prospective clients with your wife...maybe she can do most of the talking and that way you will get a feel for the clients and you are on hand to discuss work to be done...
You will also do well to listen to ...blondebubbles advice, she is a tax credit expert and will be able to guide you through the process.0 -

Best thing to do is to call them. Confirm your working hours and income details and they'll check your claim.
I just dug the award out and they know I am self employed as they have the household income down as 0 and the self employed income down as the same but will still give them a call I have the renewal to do now anyway so need to call them about that0 -

I have Anti Social Personality Disorder, basically I have no social skills no guilt no empathy and no conscience, I have a history in my past of violent behavior.
Now my issue is that I have been carefully managing my condition for over 10 years , and in that time I have never been violent in any way and never had any problems, however it is due to very careful management of myself, for example in public I will not speak unless I have to.
So during the quotation stage I am also checking out the customers to make sure they are either the kind of people who will leave me to work and not need constant contact or those that do not require me to talk much, because when I am asked my opinion I often offend and do not know I am doing it most of the time.
And that is why I am careful about who I work for.
Well done for managing your condition for so long, however I think you need to think in a more business like manner and view this as a business issue to resolve.
Would it help if you had an assistant or partner? ideally one who has more interpersonal skills to deal with the customers. I realise there would be less for you, but that would be offset by being able to take on more jobs.
My Mum who is retired, will talk the hind legs off any tradesmen who do work on her place which is annoying, but if she likes them and their work she will recommend them to anyone she knows in her extensive local network and people often hire on personality, and perhaps a partner whose skills compliment yours could be beneficial.
Or how about learning to fake it, check out and see if there are any local acting groups who can help you improve your interpersonal skills.
Of all the training courses I have been on the most useful was the Think, Breathe, Speak course for interpersonal skills ran by an Acting group, initially I was very sceptical thinking it was more Mgt crap but it wasn't and I still use the skills today.
And don't forget to include a % in your quotes to cover buying new tools.0 -

I'm afraid i can't help you with grants etc...maybe googling it or asking at your local jobcentre may help... I just wanted to point out that DKLS has made an excellent point, makesure you take into account new tools when costing a job.0 -

There are places that offer grants and loans to help self employed people with their businesses, but I have seen no disability specific ones nor would I think you would be their remit tbh.
Get googling.
How long have you been self employed? If within your first year you stand more of a chance. You will need plans etc to get a grant or loan though and they may refuse due to you being so selective over clients,it's not a good way to run a businessIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0
