What was your household taxable income for 2013/14 and what do you expect it to be for 2014/15?
What rate of DLA do you get? £52 seems a bit low based on details here -
My net household income is negative but again they count gross which is the issue, my DLA is Low care component and there are deductions from benefits on that right now as well.0 -
-
Done that they will only accept accounts signed off on by a accountant and I can not afford one so have to wait till January when self assesment is due to do anything about that
You need to speak to CAB, welfare rights etc and ask them to speak with the council on your behalf - you shouldn't have to wait that long.0 -
I dont thats the point, if a customer pays me £1500 for materials and £200 labour lets say, the council take that as £1700 income, disregarding the fact I have to pay the £1500 out on materials.
Thats what I mean by taking the gross amout into my account and as such leaving me worse off.
That can't be right, surely.Sort your accounts.
And you must have some social skills, empathy and conscience, hence being married with kids
If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Tax credits for self employed take into account your profit.
So this would be your turnover, minus any business expenses but before tax and NI is deducted. It is explained in more details here -
Have you done your SA return?
We do receive child tax credits and working tax credits yes because the business is running negative it is the only reason we have a roof over our heads to be honest.
As for the SA there was some issues with that as the HM revenue had me as self employed while I was on ESA which led to a long drawn out issue but the first one is due in January
sorry if I remove your links when I quote you the forums wont let me post them0 -

I have a great wife who understands me and I could not wish for anything more there, and I do have some, I am generally good for short convos but soon I loose focus or stop watching every word I say and I say something most find offensive0 -
Hi....You are very down on yourself but you should be proud. You have pushed and managed yourself enough to gain a skillful trade, carpentry is an art i have always admired.
This 'Rated People' company i have never had any dealings with them but it sounds like they are there to service themselves only.
Is it possible your wife could arrange your appointments and meet the clients before hand. Is it also possible she could do your accounts, maybe take a book keeping course if needed?
Don't be down on yourself....you seem to overcome some of your obstacles by meeting your wife, getting married, fathering 2 cildren and gaining a trade..people will always need carpenters and if you manage your business properly you will reap the awards.0 -

The sooner you do that, the sooner you can give tax credits your accurate figures.
If you are making no profit and have no other taxable income then working tax credits should be £638 per month (if over 30 hours) or £572 (if between 24 and 29 hours per week).
Child tax credits should be £503 per month and child benefit £147 per month.
if that is the case I am getting far less then I should be because I am getting nothing close to that0 -

Thank you so much for your kind words. My wife does manage my diary and book my appointments already but she cant meet customers because to be honest she doesnt know what she is talking about when it comes to carpentry.
Also I have to hide my condition the best I can from customers because if you search my condition on the internet it makes me out to be a sadistic serial killer or a con man which I am niether, I just want to earn an honest days wage for an honest days work0
