Hi there, going to Cardiff for the first time tomorrow till Friday evening. Going to the cycling time trial at Celtic Manor on Thursday and going to the Dr Who experience on Friday. The weather forecast for Friday looks particularly grim, can anyone recommend anything to do while its raining, shops, restaurants to visit etc? Thanks in advance

You're so very special, I wish I was special

Cardiff has a huge shopping centre, would recommend zero degrees for great beer & food, there's also the castle, the museum, for nicer weather St Fagans has a lovely display of old buildings which you can go into. there's also the millennium stadium for tours, you can also go down Cardiff Bay which is buzzing on a nice eveningproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

While you are at Dr Who take a bit of time to wander around the bay, and get your photo at the Torchwood secret entrance
and visit Iantos shrineWWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
we did the DWE in April and found it a huge disappointment.
We did have a lovely stroll around the bay area though and would definitely go back. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Sadly the bay can be a bit grim in the rain. If you have younger children, then techniquest is fun. I can recommend cafe rouge for food.
But if you want to get out of rain, then you might want to go back to centre of Cardiff and go to national museum - free and indoors!0 -
thank you infj, we went down to the bay this evening and made the most of the sun. Loved it, got pics of the torchwood entrance and iantos shrine, had dinner in Eddies diner which was in Dr Who (the impossible astronaut episode). Heading to the cycling tomorrow, and then we've decided Friday will be Dr who first thing then heading into the centre to go to the shops and castle and museum. Thank you for all your help, i really appreciate it

I quite enjoyed it but there was only 4 other people and us 3 in there so we had great opportunities to take loads of photos without loads of people getting in the way.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -

Agree with the above + good weather - try
- Roath Park if you are feeling energetic you can take a boat out for a row around the Lake,
- Cefn Onn Park - a secluded walk of rhododendron bushes in the north of Cardiff (Lisvane),
- Castle Coch - nicknamed the fairy tale Castle - off the A470 a mile from the M4 Coryton interchange,
- Penarth Seafront - Victorian Pier and shops, and pleasant sea view walk; and Penarth centre is quite nice.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0
