Companies exist to make a profit. No profit, no company. Would you prefer a state monopoly on mobiles where you either pay the going rate, or have no phone? And remember a mobile phone is a luxury, not a basic human need despite what some people may believe.

Are the profits too large is another matter, but think about this. Who benefits from the profits, and shareholders obviously, not go look at the make up of your pension funds, many pension funds invest in these big companies you are probalby getting this profit back in some form in way of rises in your pension fund.

And lets remember these profits are taxed, so you get money back that way, and Yes these companies may try to reduce tax laibilities, but lets be honest if you had a fully legal way to reduce your personal tax bill you'd take that option, why should companies not be allowed to do the same.
I know what you are saying but i don't see how that benefits the Country. Excessive profit that then moves offshore is perhaps not the best way to get growth out of our economy. Legal tax loopholes benefit no one but the top bosses. Yes there is an argument of attracting big business with low tax but its happening at the expense of the general UK population. You only have to look at Holland where the minimum wage of around 10euro is a hell of a lot higher than here.

Where does Vodafones profit go to? The bulk of usually back to shareholders, or re-investment to grow the business.

Its not like the profit vanishes, even if it may not go to the tax man directly it will as people spend bonus's and spend on investment. In smaller private companies it may well go direct to the bosses pocketbut most public companies spend it somewhere.

I accept that company bosses may get a better bonus based on profit but others benefit too.
