Can you use this device with Skygo? i.e. Can you stream Skygo from your laptop to the TV using chromecast?

I was told on a technical forum that it wouldn't work ...but I'd also be interested in buying one if anyone has got it to work anyway!0

To work the app has to have the cast facility built in, there are a limited number of these available atm. iPlayer, Netflix, YouTube, and BT Sport being the main ones.
You can get a cast add on for the chrome browser, so it may be possible to get Sky Go to work that way.
I'll give it a go and report back. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Not very successful I'm afraid, I can get the SkyGo web page to display, but the video is jerky and there is no sound. Looks like Sky need a dedicated app.
Chromecast is designed to work with tablets and smart phones rather than PCs, maybe someone will write Apps for Windows 8 ( falls of chair laughing)That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

It doesn't NEED a dedicated app to work, but the dedicated app really helps, as Penrhyn has shared with us. Chromecast simply displays what's on your device's screen. It's being 'thrown' to your TV. If that happens to be video in this case, that's very high bandwidth and a lot of data, possibly going from - internet - your router - wirelessly to your device - wirelessly to router - wirelessly to Chromecast - TV Screen (or something like that at least). With a supported site/app, for example YouTube, your device just points the Chromecast to the right place on the net, so the video goes internet - router - wirelessly to Chromecast - TV. That's far less data flying around.
In terms of Sky Go - be careful. They have a habit of blocking stuff that works this way (I'm pretty sure you can't do this on an iPad for example) so I'd say you're very unlikely to ever get an app that supports this, not whilst Sky is trying to sell you NowTV that you plug into your TV...0
