Firstly, although you are probably sick of being lectured- paypal on a collected PC is a big fat no- always ship it unless you can negotiate cash with buyer.

    Details here:

In the first instance here I would go with the above and refuse the refund- then wait to see what buyer does. Refuse firmly, state all reasons in case this ends up in a fight.

Obviously your issue is going to be not, I suspect an INR as buyer would need to be terminally dim to go there after asking for a refund- but a fraudulent use of card claim in the next 6 months.

Thanks Soolin. I realised afterwards that the buyer could claim this and I wouldnt have a leg to stand on.
  • Update. I've not done the refund yet. Told him I would but only when I had chance to re-install it all and check it.

Cheeky dog then reckons hes done me a favour bringing it back to me because it was faulty. It wasnt!

I reckon before long he will raise a paypal dispute. Half-tempted to let him do so and wait for the refund because of all the hassle hes now caused me.
  • Seriously, if he tries it take this down the legal route, buyers like this can't be let to get away with it. Makes me angry thinking about it.
  • Got all the text and emails he sent me. Hes now saying I told him it was ok to bring it back like it was and he thinks I'm being unreasonable. He thinks its faulty and he doing me a favour taking the time to return it. I have pointed out that I've worked in the IT industry for 25 years and he obviously has no idea and hes shut up about that a bit.

So basically, he took away a working PC with a legal version of windows on it including licence sticker, and now thinks its ok to bring back wiped clean with half a licence sticker.

I told him try doing that to PC World and see how far you get.

I do have the PC back now but now I've got to waste my time getting it built again. Im so annoyed with it.

To be honest, like I said I work in IT and have got my own company. If someone dropped a PC to me and asked me to sort out (I dont normally do this sort of thing) but you'd be looking at almost half a days work so £100 or so at least.

I will refund him but hes going to have to wait a while.
