    You do NOT need to use manufacturer's supplied parts - only parts of "matching quality". The quaility is self-certified by the parts manufacturer, NOT the car maker.

    So, for example, a set of Brembo brake disks would be considered "matching quality" regardless of who made the original disks because Brembo are a reputable company who warrant their disks to meet or exceed OE spec.

    The definition of "original" parts was also set to specifically include parts by the same maker as the car maker uses but sold under their own brand.

    So, for example, a set of Mintex brake pads bought in a Mintex box from your local factors is still considered an "original" part if the car maker would (or might) be supplying you with Mintex pads in their OEM boxes.

    The same applies to all components, not just brake bits, but they're quick and easy examples that people will be familiar with.
