Perhaps it is more to do with (the mocking of) my 'screen name'.
Anyway in case it assists anyone, I think the answers are in this:

"Licence" in this context being the legal term for what you and I call a tax disc.0 -
I don't think anyone would be very interested in enforcing the display of something that will be consigned to the history books in 3 months time.
An unlicensed vehicle would be a different matter of course.
The answer to the OP's question is of course yes - it is still an offence, and it would be the job of the police to decide whether to take serious action or not.
Personally I don't think they would be much bothered.0 -
If you have a tax disc that has some time to run at the point at which they are abolished is it necessary to continue to display it until it expires ?0

Won't do any harm, why remove it?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

The police never take serious action on this matter. They simply fill in a 1-page form the size of half a sheet of A4, then post it to the DVLA, who will decide what to do.
The police may also issue a fixed penalty notice.
Neither of which counts as "serious action"We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
