Andale is the page view counter.

Channel advisor - I found this which might help: http://community.inkfrog.com/index.php?action=vthread&topic=10295&forum=2&page=-1

Cheers, I have revoked them both anyway to be on safe side, i imagine if i need page counter again it will just add itself again and I'm led to believe that I musta bought something off someone who used the channel advisor checkout then so doubt ill need it again!

Has anyone informed the guys over at https://www.paypalsucks.com ? I imagine they would be interested!

Very interesting - how long does it take the IC to respond ?

About 3 to 4 months if I remember correctly. My current complaint has been running for at least a month before it was even allocated to someone to look at. Then they need time to get the info from the other party etc etc.

However, the more people that complain, the more chance the IC will be so hacked off with paypal they may do something.

Maybe they never changed it and the accounts have been hacked.

So instead of gaining useful info like credit card numbers they hacked the anti-spam tag - only way this could have been done, to what will be a lot of accounts, is deliberately.

Sky did exactly the same thing to my account with them, thats one of the reasons I made my complaint to the IC, and won.

Maybe it had something to do with this:

Its possible they used that as an opportunity to change the preferences, but Luxembourg has this little law Data Protection law

"Law of 2 August 2002 on the Protection of Persons with regard to the Processing of Personal Data"

    http://www.legilux.public.lu/leg/a/archives/2002/0911308/0911308.pdf#page=2

Which is overseen by there IC "Commission à la Protection des Données Nominatives"

    http://www.cnpd.lu/fr/droits/index.html

If its the case that IC won't touch this due to the fact Paypal is now PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. & Cie and moved to Luxembourg, then its a case of bringing a complaint against them there. (should prove entertaining, frustrating and informative for me :-)

I have decided to complain to the Information commissioner's office under data protection laws as I am seriously irritated at the attitude of paypal in doing this
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

People might like to check again as according to this thread people were finding the box had been ticked again even after un-ticking although I have to say mine is still un-ticked this morning

    I received this reply:

Thank you for contacting PayPal in relation to your recent query.

Notification Preferences for the PayPal Periodical and Product Updates
are activated by default. Therefore, a PayPal user will need to set
their Preferences to 'not' receive these emails if they so choose. This
Preference is activated by default because these emails have proven to
be relevant to the typical PayPal member.

Please check your Account Profile to ensure that your Notification
Preferences are currently set to your desired specifications. You can
choose whether or not to receive the General Notification emails,
Website Payment Notification emails, and the Money Notification email by
    following these steps:

    1. Log in to your account at
    https://www.paypal.com/

    2. Click 'Profile'

    3. Click 'Notifications' under 'Account Information'

    4. By check-marking and unchecking the boxes, indicate which
features you would like to receive

    5. Click 'Save'

You can return to the 'Notifications' link at any time to modify your
    selections.

Please note: We respect our members Notification Preferences, but
because of the number of members we send emails to, there may be a delay
of up to 5 business days before any change takes effect. Users who have
selected not to receive emails from PayPal may still receive emails that
we were in the process of sending before the Preference was changed.

PayPal is a "user-initiated" system. Only the account holder can add,
set up, make corrections or changes, remove information, and/or close
the account. PayPal is unable to go into your account and make any
    changes or alterations for you.

Please note: To view and edit your account information, log in to your
account and click the "Profile" tab.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Sincerely,
    Maria

I got what Crabman has. I replied saying I hadn't changed them - they told me it wasn't possible for anyone else to do it.

This is obviously a software change as everybody seems to have been done at once. The people on the "help" desk probably haven't even been told about it
