Buying a phone from Gumtree/Ebay
Comments
-
I want to buy an S4 and have seen offers on Gumtree and Ebay. How can I check that the phone has not been stolen?
This is a present for someone who wants an S4 but is careless with phones so a secondhand one would be good.
TIA

Why?
If you are careful it's a viable avenue to buy from. There are even big retailers selling on eBay so a blanket "don't buy from there" seems rather ignorant.
Gumtree to a lesser extent, but again common sense can make it viable, go to the sellers house or office, ask to see some ID, if they say it's an upgrade, ask to see the paperwork.
I've bought from both places and haven't had a problem on either. It's always wise to remember if it looks too good to be true it's probably a scam, use common sense and it's reasonably safe to use.====0 -
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
Instead of going true all that.
In short dont buy. Simples

EBay, not Gumtree. I've bought and sold over 12 phones in 5 years with no incidents. PayPal is your friend, especially if there are issues that require a refund.0

My advise isnto get it from smartfonestore..its cheaper than ebay with 60 days warranty.0

Id choose ebay all the time for a mobile phone.0

I have sold phones in excellent condition via EBay .
Buyers just need a bit of common sense really .0 -
That's useful but of course a common trick is someone sells their working phone and a month later they've then claimed on their insurance it got lost/stolen and its imei gets blocked.Quiet_Spark wrote: »

I have never had problems with eBay but Gumtree could be a different story unless its worth the risk for getting the phone at a bargain price.0
