I was in the Lloyds branch today to open another Club
The lady was saying that I would be charged the £5 fee if I MANUALLY transferred (from within online banking) the £1,500 from another Lloyds account.
She said the transfer to bring the total 'paid in' amount to £1,500 or more for the month had to be an AUTOMATED transfer, and it had to be from an external source not form one of your other Lloyds accounts... i.e. your monthly salary or from another bank like Santander.
She says this because one of her other customers was charged the £5 fee and they had internally transferred the money manually.
Can we have some clarification on this? Who here is doing what? and are you getting charged the fee or not?
I have the "T&C" from the club I opened before it just mentions "If you pay in £1500 in a month the fee will be waived for that month".
It is a print out, it does not actually call itself "Terms And Conditions" it is only 2 sides of A4 paper and the info on paying in is found in the first section called "Eligibility:"
She got a colleague who confirmed it had to be Automated, I asked him if it could be automated from one of my other Lloyds account, he initially said yes but the lady told him he was wrong.
A different chap who opened my other club accounts a few weeks ago said I could transfer from within Lloyds and made no mention that it had to be automated.. i.e. exactly like Vantage.
The Lloyds website has a T&C link and it is very similar to the print out you get in the branch... it also only says 'If you pay in £1500 the fee is waived'.
The same thing happened to me. I asked the lady to show me in their terms and conditions where it said that the deposit had to be "new" money. Of course she couldn't so had to back track.
It does seem that some branches have got the wrong end of the stick on this one. It was the receptionist who first alerted me of this.0 -
I was in Lloyds today and overheard the receptionist talking to a customer about the poor interest rates and then this was said:
"We do have an account which pays 4% interest, but it does require you salary to be paid in as well as your bills to be paid by direct debit to qualify."
I'm not sure if that was because they misunderstood the rules, they tried to simplify the rules, or something else.0 -
Worrying if people can overhear what bank staff discuss with customers.
Even more worrying is bank staff use poetic licence when describing their bank's product offers.0 -
If you have a partner you can have 3.
2 singles and a joint. You can't have 2 singles. You can have one sole and one joint and that is it.
So "If you (singular) have a partner you (plural) can have 3. 2 singles and a joint."Oh, the joys of the internet..0 -
