Club Lloyds

I was in the Lloyds branch today to open another Club

The lady was saying that I would be charged the £5 fee if I MANUALLY transferred (from within online banking) the £1,500 from another Lloyds account.
She said the transfer to bring the total 'paid in' amount to £1,500 or more for the month had to be an AUTOMATED transfer, and it had to be from an external source not form one of your other Lloyds accounts... i.e. your monthly salary or from another bank like Santander.

She says this because one of her other customers was charged the £5 fee and they had internally transferred the money manually.

Can we have some clarification on this? Who here is doing what? and are you getting charged the fee or not?

I have the "T&C" from the club I opened before it just mentions "If you pay in £1500 in a month the fee will be waived for that month".
It is a print out, it does not actually call itself "Terms And Conditions" it is only 2 sides of A4 paper and the info on paying in is found in the first section called "Eligibility:"

She got a colleague who confirmed it had to be Automated, I asked him if it could be automated from one of my other Lloyds account, he initially said yes but the lady told him he was wrong.

A different chap who opened my other club accounts a few weeks ago said I could transfer from within Lloyds and made no mention that it had to be automated.. i.e. exactly like Vantage.

The Lloyds website has a T&C link and it is very similar to the print out you get in the branch... it also only says 'If you pay in £1500 the fee is waived'.

I'm going to say no as I opened the account in April, and in May I did the usual run around my accounts, transferring £1,500 in and out of each of them. At the beginning of this month I see the following:

    04 Jun 14 CLUB LLOYDS WAIVED DEP 5.00 x,xxx.xx
    04 Jun 14 CLUB LLOYDS FEE PAY 5.00 x,xxx.xx

The transfers are marked as "TFR".

I thought you were only allowed one club account?

You can't have 2 singles. You can have one sole and one joint and that is it.
You may hold a maximum of one account with Club Lloyds benefits in your sole name and one in joint names.

one person can only have one sole and one joint account. Any sole account your partner (or other joint account holder) holds is not your account.

    Hi Wig.

The credit of £1,500 to activate the fee waiver can be any credit payments made to the account. That includes salaries, benefits, cash, Faster Payments or standing orders. I'm not sure why you were told otherwise, so apologies for that. If you can let me know which branch you visited, I'll feed this back to them. Hope this helps.

    Thanks

  • So to be clear 'any credit payment' would include an internal transfer from another LLoyds account?

    Hi nearlyretired2004.

That's correct. Internal transfers are included, so it can come from another Lloyds account that you already have open.

    Thanks

  • Having been away, I've just got round to thinking about what to do with my Vantage accounts and the Lloyds website has confused me a bit .... it seems i can't convert my Vantage to Club without first upgrading to Silver - at a cost of nearly £10 pm? Is that correct?
